Crowdsourced Art. A small production was using our studios as a home base while they shot on location in Brooklyn. They needed graffiti backgrounds. So, if I understand the story correctly, they left two huge blank canvases out on the street over night with a note "tag me". When they returned in the morning, they found the canvases duly tagged. When the production was over, the canvases were headed to the dumpster. We saw them and hollered "Noooo! Keep them as decoration!". The Art Director didn't seem to mind and thus they were 'saved'. Now they grace one of our hallways. So much fun to have around, if anything, just for the story.

A well known comedy television network needed to shoot a pilot for a series and were looking for a cyclorama, which is basically a big wall that seamlessly curves into the floor. If you've seen video of people standing in the middle of nothing, you need a cyclorama to do that. Given that we have other sets in place at the time for another show, we couldn't offer the cyclorama. But you can buy 12x50 foot seamless paper and we thought that might be a solution. But the production team needed something way bigger than that. So, even though everyone thought it wouldn't work (the first one we put up tore right in half) we attached two rolls to create an 11 foot high, 24 foot wide, by 50 foot long piece of paper to create a faux cyclorama. It took 10 people to lift it into place, but surprise, surprise... it worked!

A lot of great TV magic happens here. It's great to see an empty space turn into a whole new time and place.
