In no particular order, here are my favorite Newsberg stories from 2025!
🍷 A climate study looked back at 70 years of climate data and revealed a trend that may impact how the Willamette Valley's start grape is presented in the future.
🚕 Newberg Mayor Bill Rosacker heard that tasting rooms were having trouble finding consistent transportation to and from tastings, so he decided to sign up for Uber and see what it was like behind the wheel.
🎆 The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival had its last fireworks show at Renne Field since the park is scheduled for a complete renovation, including an artificial turf field, in 2026. What's next for Newberg's annual festival is still up in the air.
🏛️ Newberg City Manager Will Worthey, a former librarian, was asked to fill an occupancy temporarily when he first started. However, after proving he was the right man for the job, he was offered the full role, and this year, had his contract extended to 2034.
🛝 Chehalem Parks and Recreation District has parks all over the region, and several of them have play structures that are over 20 years old. Those and others will likely need repair and, in most cases, all out replacement soon.
🐭 After a few false starts over the past year and a half, it appears downtown Newberg's Butler Property will officially be sold in January 2026 and head toward development into a mixed-use building.
This was an insane, fun year everyone. I loved looking back at all of these stories to see Newberg's journey over 2025! I can't wait to see what's next in 2026.
