Tawanda Mugodhi aka Tawanda Gold is a Zimbabwean performing artist versatile in both R'n'B and Afropop. He started composing songs at the tender age of 11 while at Glen View Primary. His love for music continued at St John's Chikwaka where he did his High School education. In 2002, he showcased his vocal gift at Superstar Zimbabwe, a talent show which gave budding artists a chance to display their talents. At the talent show, there were other artists like
Ngoni Kambarami, Arnold Chirisa, Enock Guni aka Nox just to mention but a few.
In 2005, a compilation album Chamhembe plus was released which featured Tawanda Gold's hitsong Ndinovimbisa featuring dancehall chanter Yombree.
Together with Trevor Dongo and Nox Guni Music They formed a boyband named AfroUnik in 2007 whose album was produced at Eternity Productions by Macdee Chidavaenzi . Among the songs on the album were Kana Musipo, a hit which had a video accompanying it.
Upon disbanding the group, Tawanda Gold went solo in 2008 releasing songs such as Adhibale, Hameno Rudo featuring Yoz Wenyu Shinsoman Dancehall Father and Leonard mapfumo.
Tawanda Gold left Zimbabwe for Dubai in 2015 and a year later he released an album Troy named after his son. The album had songs like Ashibike whose video was done in Dubai. He also did some videos for other songs like Kadeyadeya and Musikana Uye.
Apart from music, Tawanda Gold holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering specialising in Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering. He was a High School Maths teacher at Glen View 2 High.
