Caught this beautiful 41″ striped bass on father’s day with my son Timmy, using mackerel chunks on Plum Island. Shout out to Surfland Bait and Tackle for the endless help.

Morone Saxatilis, our beloved finned companion with those distinctive stripes on their sides. The bite will just get better and better as larger pods of fish stage up along our beloved island named Plum. Fish will come and they will go, this time of the year there is no certain patterns yet. For a few days the guys would smoke them and then they would move on, going up river or up the coast to the next location. Only one way to find out ? No? Get off your butt, grab a dozen worms some clams and soak the bait, line up off the point and have some etiquette or walk the ocean front toss them jigs & plugs. Here's some pics of bass caught recently! If you haven't dusted off the gear I highly recommend you do shortly!

As May begins, the ocean loads up with Fins. The season has officially started! The striped bass have arrived! Some holdovers stirred up by herring and some loaded with sea lice. Not in big numbers yet, but guys are catching them on the ocean front and in the mouth. Soft plastic paddle tails, bucktails, minnow swimmers for the artificial game! Bait wise nothing beats the good old seaworm !! Here are pictures of Mike Dube with slot size fish caught yesterday on some of our worms! " Don't go chasing reports, go be the report " - Kdawg

Rocks Village Cleanup Saturday May 3, 9AM

We are partnering with the Merrimack River Watershed Council to clean the popular shad fishing spot commonly called “Rocks Village”, located at Ferry Park in West Newbury. This section of river just upstream of Rocks Bridge collects a fair amount of floating trash along its banks; for this reason we are asking anglers and waterfowlers who volunteer to please bring their waders.

Coffee, donuts, contractor bags and cotton gloves will be available.
