The Newington Human Services Department provides food every Thanksgiving for local families in need. In keeping with holiday tradition, that means either a turkey or a chicken on the table. It is becoming increasingly difficult to get enough of these birds to meet the need and that’s why the department is conducting a drive called “Let’s Share and Care.” Individuals, clubs, church groups, businesses and anyone else who would like to assist are asked to donate frozen turkeys and chickens. A special drop-off day has been scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Nov. 2 at Town Hall. The Human Services entrance is located across the driveway from the Lucy Robbins Welles Library.
