THE SMOKE SCREEN

(A Modern Reflection on Revelation and the Mind)

“Then the angel opened the abyss, and smoke rose out like the smoke of a great furnace; and out of the smoke came creatures that harmed only those without the seal of God.” — Revelation 9:2-4

Smoke hides what’s real. It clouds the air, dulls the senses, and blinds people to truth.
That same kind of smoke screen fills today’s world — not just in the sky, but in politics, war, and the human mind.

Take Osama Almasri Najim, a former Libyan police commander accused of war crimes.
The who is a man who once controlled prisons and people.
The what are the crimes — torture, murder, and cruelty against detainees and migrants.
The when is after Libya’s collapse in 2015, when power fractured and chaos gave rise to strongmen.
The where is Tripoli, in detention centers where pain became policy.
The why is the deepest question — why does a system allow one man to rise on the suffering of others?

Psychologically, people like Najim often show traits of antisocial personality disorder and malignant narcissism — marked by deceit, lack of empathy, and pleasure in control. But one man’s illness doesn’t explain the whole picture. Someone gave him power. Someone looked away.

And that’s the real smoke screen: arresting one man while the system that created him still breathes.
It’s the same spiritual blindness Revelation warned about — the smoke that fills the air so thick, people stop noticing the darkness within it.

🎙️ THE TRUTH VS. THE LIE

When the scribes and Pharisees brought the woman “caught in adultery” before Jesus (John 8 : 1-11), they weren’t defending the Law — they were staging a scene.
It was a manufactured crisis, meant to trick Him into reacting to a lie so they could claim power that wasn’t theirs.
Jesus refused the trap. Calm truth disarmed deception: “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.”

That same tactic still works through those who serve the father of lies. Manipulators create chaos to drain the strength of those who walk in truth.
Psychologists call it gaslighting, triangulation, or covert aggression — when people invent or magnify conflict so others react emotionally and lose focus (Singer 2003; Hassan 2015).
Cult researchers describe it as deceptive manipulation, a false-conflict ritual, or an orchestrated test of loyalty (Lifton 1961).

Scripture names it plainly: a spirit of deception, spirit of confusion, or spirit of accusation (1 Kings 22 : 22; John 8 : 44; Revelation 12 : 10).
It’s the same lying influence that manufactures false crises to steal a believer’s focus and authority.

✝️ THE POWER DYNAMIC

Satan has no authority of his own. Jesus stripped him of it at the Cross (Luke 10 : 19; Colossians 2 : 15).
The only power he can access is what a believer gives away by believing a lie.
When we stand in truth, the enemy is powerless; when we agree with deception, we lend our divine authority to the deceiver.

That’s why God said, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn” (Isaiah 54 : 17).
That means every false word spoken against a child of God will be exposed and judged.

📖 JOB’S LESSON

In Job 1–2, messengers came one after another with reports of disaster.
If Job had paused and said, “Show me proof,” the story might have gone differently.
Instead, he accepted their words as truth — and that opened the door for destruction.
Satan couldn’t touch Job without Job’s agreement through belief in false reports.

💠 TRUTH IS ITS OWN LAW

Truth doesn’t need any help to exist.
Truth stands on its own — it is its own law, its own power, and its own evidence.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and Jesus promised that the Spirit “will guide you into all truth” (John 16 : 13) — not partial truth, but all truth.

The Holy Spirit also convicts the world “of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment” (John 16 : 8-11) — condemning the prince of this world, who is already judged.
Satan is a liar and the father of lies, and his children imitate him (John 8 : 44).
But we who belong to God follow Jesus’ example, doing what we see our Father do (John 5 : 19).

Before He went to the Cross, Jesus prayed for every one of us who would believe through His disciples’ word (John 17 : 20-21).
He asked the Father to keep us, and the Father will not lose a single one.

🕊️ THE WAY OF JESUS

Jesus told us, “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two.” (Matthew 5 : 41)
He said, “If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also.” (Matthew 5 : 39)
He told us to pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5 : 44).
When we obey those words, we release the situation to the judgment of Heaven.
The Holy Spirit becomes the Judge, and the angels of God are the ones who now execute judgment against Satan and his followers —including any human voices that willingly join him in deceiving God’s people.

🧠 STANDING WELL

I’ve done the work. I stay under professional care and protect my mental, spiritual, and emotional health.
I refuse to let unhealed people define my wellness just because they’re comfortable in their sickness.
Truth is my power source, and no staged drama can unplug it.
Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8 : 32)

The lie is already condemned.
The deceiver and all who cling to deception, adultery, and witchcraft will be destroyed (Revelation 21 : 😎.
That destruction of darkness has already begun — because truth has stepped into the light, and the light always wins.

According to investigators, the stolen funds were tied to a courthouse construction project financed through ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) dollars. 💬 COMMENTARY — A Lesson in Accountability and Alabama Law

In plain terms, that means if a county employee clicked the phishing link, approved the wire transfer, or failed to verify banking information, even a small lapse could prevent the county from recovering any money in a civil lawsuit.

So, although the criminal case focuses on punishing the fraud itself, the civil options may be limited by Alabama’s law — because the state considers even minimal negligence by the victim a complete barrier to financial recovery.

This case is a reminder that cybersecurity isn’t just an IT issue — it’s a legal survival issue. In a contributory negligence state, a single careless click can cost a community nearly a million dollars with no legal way to get it back.

That’s when the enemy came in swinging.

This song is about standing in the storm—
holding your peace when people mock you,
staying faithful when others lie, use you, and laugh behind your back.

Because you’re not crushed. You’re not abandoned.
You’re not destroyed.
You’ve just got GRIT.

“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed.
Persecuted, but not abandoned;
Struck down, but not destroyed.” — 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Sometimes grit is what you find when all you have left is faith.
It’s the strength to stay rooted in truth when everything else shakes.
