Thomas Burberry was 21 when he founded his namesake label – soon renamed Burberry's – in 1856. An apprentice draper with a penchant for outdoor sportswear, he became famous in 1879 for creating gabardine, the world's first waterproof fabric. In 1888 he patented it, making Burberry's its only stockist. The vision of the brand in popular culture is inextricably connected to the iconic Burberry check, one of the most recognizable patterns in the world.

“That's been one of my mantras — focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.”

, and skin care professionals use the as a tool used to classify your skin type and color.

When you request product information or when having laser procedures (i.e. laser hair removal) it is good to know your skin color/type. You want products and procedures that are compatible with your skin type, so you will get the desired results.

Skin types 1- 3 respond very well to anti-aging laser procedures, while skin types 4-6 may require treatments that are less aggressive to achieve the same results. types 5 & 6 can often have an undesirable outcome when it comes to laser procedures. It is important that you know your skin type and do your research before having any procedures. Do you homework, be prepared, know your Fitzpatrick Classification and speak their language.
