O F C O U R S E /// we’ll have a look, and somehow that look turns into the whole day.

is the Central Coast in its most irresistible form. One cute town bleeds into the next, and before you know it you’ve chewed gum off a wall, watched elephant seals argue, and ended up at a winery you didn’t plan on.

The reason it’s everywhere:

🫧 Bubble Gum Alley: a downtown San Luis Obispo corridor completely covered in decades of chewed gum, and somehow it’s one of the most photographed spots on the coast.

🐘 Cambria and the elephant seals on Hwy 1: pull over, watch them pile on top of each other, and try to leave. You won’t for a while.

🍺 Paso Robles with a SLO CAL Pale Ale in hand: wine country that also does beer well, with a downtown square that earns the detour.

🪨 Morro Rock: the volcanic plug sitting at the edge of the bay, visible from half the coast and impossible to drive past without stopping.

🦁 : a small, walkable zoo that punches above its size, especially if you have kids or just like animals.

🌊 Pismo Beach Pier: classic California coast energy, long enough to feel like you’ve earned the view at the end.

🌉 Arroyo Grande Swinging Bridge: a short walk to a wooden footbridge over the creek in one of the quietest little villages on the coast.

B E S T /// hike in San Diego might not be the one you're thinking of.

Cabrillo National Monument is San Diego's only National Park, sitting at the southern tip of Point Loma with trails, a working lighthouse, and views that reach all the way to Mexico. We spent the day making our way through all of it, tide pools included.

Here's why it earns the hype:
🚶 The trails: coastal paths with Pacific views the entire way, easy enough for anyone to do in an afternoon

🗼 The lighthouse: Old Point Loma Lighthouse, standing since 1855 and still one of the best photo stops on the property

🌊 The tide pools: change with the tide, so no two visits look the same
🏔️ The views: downtown San Diego, Coronado, the Pacific, and Mexico, all from one bluff

🦅 The wildlife: whales, dolphins, and shorebirds if you time your visit right
