🚨 Winter Storm Update – City Closures & Resources 🚨

Due to the winter storm, all Newport News city offices, libraries, and Parks & Recreation facilities will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 20.

🛑 Shelters & Assistance:
❄️ Four Oaks Day Service Center (7401 Warwick Blvd.) is open daily 5:30 AM – 5 PM for those in need.
❄️ PORT Shelter: Chestnut Memorial UMC (1024 Harpersville Rd.), moving to Denbigh United Presbyterian Church (302 Denbigh Blvd.) on Saturday, Feb. 22. Open nightly 5:30 PM – 5 AM.
❄️ If a widespread power outage occurs, a shelter will be available.

🛑 Additional Closures:
🚫 Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter & Recovery Operations Center will be closed.
🚛 Trash & recycling collection will resume when safe. Residents will not be penalized for bins left out.

🚨 Weather Alert: Newport News Declares State of Emergency for Incoming Snowstorm ❄️

City offices, libraries, and Parks & Rec facilities will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Feb. 19 due to the expected winter storm. The Emergency Operations Center will be activated to ensure safety throughout the city.

All of the Newport News Courts and Clerk’s Offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. This includes the following:

Newport News Circuit Courts and Clerk’s Offices
Newport News General District Courts and Clerk’s Offices
Newport News Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Courts and Clerk’s Offices

🏠 Need shelter?

Four Oaks Day Service Center (7401 Warwick Blvd.) is open from 5:30 AM – 5 PM for warming and support services.
PORT Winter Shelter at Chestnut Memorial UMC (1024 Harpersville Rd.) opens Wednesday at noon – Friday, Feb. 21 for overnight stays.
