A message from my old pal Randy Skretvedt, Laurel & Hardy historian and author extraordinaire...
The holidays will soon be here, a perfect time to revisit Laurel and Hardy's timeless classic "March of the Wooden Soldiers," originally released as "Babes in Toyland." Your humble correspondent was blessed to become friends with and interview several folks who worked on the film, which has an amazing story. In my book, you'll learn about the original 1903 stage production and why it can never be reproduced; the planned 1930 film which was never made; how Walt Disney helped Hal Roach get the rights in 1933; how Stan Laurel held up production, intentionally and unintentionally; why the HAL ROACH Studios were in financial peril; and how the film became a favorite on TV for decades despite the Victor Herbert family's opinion of it. FIlled with rare photographs and exclusive interviews, the book is a treasure for all who love this classic film. It's available worldwide on Amazon. The US link is here: https://tinyurl.com/MOTWSUS
