I will never forget the advice, the stories, and the time I got to spend with Chopper!

He was such a staple in this community, and the love for Newport and its people always stood out to me.

I could sit and listen to Chopper tell NASCAR stories for HOURS, I mean hours!! He always knew, when we started down memory lane with NASCAR one way or another, I'd find a way to ask for another Earnhardt story, with each story, I would find myself going back to a younger me, cheering for the black #3 in my mind.

Thank you for the time, thank you for the advice, thank you for the encouragement, and most of all Thank you for being friend! I will never forget that, rest easy Chop, your work here is done!

I have attached the audio from MRN, from Chopper's interview with Dale in 1998 when he won the Daytona 500. A moment I will never forget and now, it features THREE iconic voices that are no longer with us, Dale Earnhardt, Barney Hall, and out dear friend Jim "Chopper" Phillips!
