UPDATE: I recently put together a meeting involving the Alabama Scenic River Trail, Choctawhatchee Riverkeeper, Pea River Outdoors, the Choctawhatchee - Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority, Restoration 154, members of the Coffee County Republican Executive Committee, a member of the Alabama Republican Executive Committee, and several concerned citizens to discuss public access to Coffee County’s waterways.

Topics included improving and maintaining public access points, cleaning up our rivers and creeks, improving safety, vandalism, and promoting responsible recreational use of the Pea River and other public waterways throughout Coffee County.

It was a productive first meeting, and I look forward to continuing to work together to improve the condition, accessibility, safety and general usage of our public waters.

This is a good thing but we still need to abide by Alabama laws and it doesn't come into effect till October of this year.

Proud to share that HB254 passed out of the House Public Safety Committee yesterday! This bill is about protecting constitutional rights on Alabama’s waterways while ensuring law enforcement has clear, consistent standards. Thankful for the committee’s support and for everyone who continues to stand with us for commonsense public safety legislation. 🇺🇸⚓
