Oklahoma high school football radio institution 'Friday Night Finals' bids farewell

"Friday Night Finals" was a thread that knit together the high school football fabric in Oklahoma for 35 years. But it won't be on the air in 2023.

After 35 seasons, I am saddened to report that Friday Night Finals will not be on the air this fall. A changing media landscape has made it impossible to continue the show in 2023. While the FNF team hopes to return in 2024, time will tell.
There are many people to thank after a run like this. It is amazing to see what this show became over the years. FNF was bigger than any person and so many people kept the show thriving. I would like to single out a handful of folks. Mark Christian started FNF's journey (even before 1988) with a show heard only in Oklahoma City on KTOK. Danny Henderson joined followed by my uncle, Jim Reagan. That duo became synonymous with high school football for many years. Jeff Gaddie joined in 1998 and was the glue behind the show through its final year. Greg Merick had a lengthy stint on the show and kept it going in his role as the ONN's Program Director. Media legend Randy Renner joined the show and helped make it better. So many others graced the microphones over the years. (You can see a list of all our past hosts at https://fridaynightfinals.com/about/.)
I think everyone involved saw our role as a caretaker, to keep the show going and thriving, and to highlight the many high school football players and teams that compete each Friday night.
Our affiliate stations and sponsors also made the show possible, reaching throughout the state every Friday night. Finally, our listeners made this happen by listening on the way home from ballgames in their cars, team busses and by calling in scores and reports for many years.
It was an honor and privilege for all of us to play a small role.
Thank you for listening.
Joel Reagan
