I’m trying not to panic, but I noticed this pale/white-looking area near my back teeth and now my brain is jumping straight to leukoplakia. I’m not in major pain, but it looks different enough that I keep checking it and making myself more anxious.

I’m planning to get it looked at, but an exam could be around $250-$600, and I’m really hoping it’s just irritation from braces, rubbing, or biting that area. Has anyone had something like this that turned out to be harmless irritation?

I’m trying not to overthink this, but I noticed this spot near my wisdom tooth area and now I’m wondering if it’s normal tissue, irritation, or the wisdom tooth starting to cause problems.

It’s not the worst pain, but it feels weird enough that I keep checking it. I know an X-ray is probably the only way to know for sure, but I’m hoping it’s nothing major.

Has anyone had something like this near their wisdom tooth before?

I’m trying not to overthink this, but I’ve been wondering if it’s time to get my wisdom tooth removed. It doesn’t look fully out to me, and I keep feeling pressure/soreness around the back of my mouth, especially when chewing or brushing back there.

I know an X-ray is probably the only real way to know, but I’m nervous about being told I need an extraction. I called around and was told wisdom tooth removal could be anywhere from $800 to $2,500 depending on how complicated it is, so I’m trying to mentally prepare.

Has anyone had a wisdom tooth that looked like this and ended up needing it removed?

I’m trying not to overthink this, but I’m at the point where I need to decide what makes the most sense long-term: braces with pontics, or just going the denture/partial route. I have missing teeth and spacing issues, and I’m worried about spending thousands just to regret the choice later.

The quotes I’ve heard are all over the place, anywhere from around $5,800 for braces to $12,000+ depending on replacement teeth, so I’m trying to be realistic but also not give up on having a smile I feel okay with.

Has anyone gone with pontics during braces instead of dentures, and were you happy with it?

I’m honestly embarrassed posting this, but I need to know if teeth like this can still be saved. I’ve been putting it off for a while because of fear and money, but the broken front teeth, dark spots, and sensitivity are getting harder to ignore.

I called around and was told an exam, X-rays, and treatment plan could start around $600, but if I need fillings, crowns, root canals, or extractions it could be anywhere from $5,000 to $18,000. I’m overwhelmed, but I really want to start somewhere.

Has anyone had teeth this bad and still managed to fix them step by step?

I’m honestly proud of my 10-year-old’s dental care lately. We’ve been working on brushing better, keeping up with checkups, and being more consistent, and seeing her teeth looking this clean makes me feel like the nagging is finally paying off.

Her last visit was around $350 with the exam and cleaning, so I’m really hoping we can keep things on track and avoid bigger dental problems later. I know kids’ teeth change so much at this age, but I’m happy with the progress.

For other parents, what helped your kids stay consistent with brushing and flossing?

I’m trying not to overthink this, but I noticed this black stuff around my back teeth and now I’m worried. I’m not sure if it’s staining, tartar buildup, food stuck there, or something worse, but seeing it in a photo definitely made me nervous.

I’m planning to get it checked, but I was told an exam and cleaning could be around $300-$900 depending on what they find, so I’m hoping it’s something simple and not a huge dental bill.

Has anyone had black buildup or spots like this and found out what it was?

I’m trying not to panic, but my 4-year-old fell and now one of his front teeth looks different enough that I’m worried it might be dead. His teeth were healthy at his last appointment, aside from one tiny pinhole cavity, so seeing this change has me overthinking everything.

I called the dentist and they’re booked, but thankfully they’re getting him in for an X-ray this week. I’m worried about what they’ll say, if they’ll just watch it, treat it, or if it could eventually need to come out. The visit and X-rays could be around $300-$700, which isn’t fun, but I mostly just want to know he’s okay.

Has anyone’s child had a baby tooth change after a fall, and what did the dentist end up doing?

Final update on my “how cooked am I” post… honestly, I’m way less cooked than I thought. 😅

I finally got checked and cleaned, and underneath all that buildup my teeth were in better shape than I had convinced myself. My gums are still irritated and I know I’ve got work to do, but this already feels like a huge relief compared to where my mind was going.

The cleaning and exam were around $850, which still hurt, but not nearly as much as the $10,000+ disaster plan I had created in my head. I’m actually feeling hopeful now instead of ashamed.

Has anyone else been shocked by how much better things looked after a proper cleaning?
