Topic:

An exploration of the complicated state of our industry and how we can navigate it to find success.

Our goal with this round table discussion is to have each of our panelists give their thoughts on the current state of our industry, and to provide some insight into how they are navigating it. The other goal is to present alternative pathways for independent film and television production. Each panelist can provide unique insights based on their experience, their successes, and their failures. How can we carve a path forward? How do we create stability? What is currently happening in our state? What do we want to see happen, and how would that reshape what is possible?

Psyched to share the GOSA story!

The 2025 Groton Open Space Association (GOSA) Annual Meeting celebrated the organization’s legacy and ongoing mission to protect Southeastern Connecticut’s natural heritage. The event featured a special video series produced by Alec Asten of Firesite Films, chronicling GOSA’s journey from its grassroots beginnings — preserving Haley Farm and Bluff Point — to its evolution as a land trust dedicated to land, water, and wildlife conservation.

The video segments highlighted:

🌳 GOSA’s origin story and community advocacy
🌳 Transition to a land trust and strategic partnerships
🌳 Property management and stewardship efforts
🌳 Community engagement through education, outreach, and sponsored hikes

Alec Asten, an award-winning local filmmaker, was welcomed as the guest speaker, and the meeting concluded with thanks to all contributors, including the Firesite Films crew, graphic designer George Sherman, and numerous video participants and volunteers who have shaped GOSA’s success.

Videos will be hosted on our website and shared with the membership once finalized. Thank you all for your on-going support for GOSA!

Behold, TANTHAR, born in the cold northwoods of Thuria, his heroic tales will be told through the mists of time beside our Firesite. He will become a legendary swashbuckler and warrior whom travels across a primeval world, seeking treasures from lost civilizations and battles savage beasts, witches, demons and tyrants who grind nations beneath their heels. For the meek and the defenseless, his coming is salvation; for the cruel, he is the herald of their doom.
