Ripping out the bedroom cabinets is going swimmingly. They’re actually a lot easier to remove than we anticipated. We expected this messy scene of wooden splinters and a bunch of hammering but you can actually finesse the cabinets out pretty easily piece by piece with very little banging around since it’s mostly stapled in. So little in fact, Abe’s been able to help out in the bedroom pretty much the whole time. Not much of a surprise that he loves all of the destruction that’s taking place.

We’re halfway through removal and already feel sense of openness in the bedroom we didn’t have before. Excited to put into action our design plans for what comes after the cabinets.

Renovations to the bedroom have officially begun! This used to be where we kept most of our clothes. We’ve always disliked the classic R.V. look of overhead cabinets but initially decided to keep them due to our fears of not having enough storage. Quite the contrary, actually. 2 years and 10,000 miles later and we’re gambling that the forward storage areas is more than enough room for all of our belongings. Taking these cabinets down should open up the space and set us up for a really dope headboard in the future. Wish us luck. There isn’t a lot out there on the subject of R.V. cabinet removal.

When Dani walked into the dress shop in downtown Sarasota today the clerk asked her if she was going to cry when she tried on the right one. Apparently Dani laughed and said no, but after the eighth dress they were tears. Can’t wait to see what she picked.

You can expect your first couple miles of driving a big rig on the interstate to be a bit bumpy. Dani had a little time behind the wheel before this but only in parking lots or desert roads. When tractor trailers and zippy speedsters are whipping by on both sides, the pucker factor tends to increase, especially when your baby is on board. Dani felt empowered to drive our 37’ rig (50’ w/toad) after seeing all the other women behind the wheels of big RV’s as we journeyed across the country. Safe to say her few hours on Interstate 10 during rush hour outside of Houston is proof she can drive with the best of them!

Welcome to one of our favorite public make-out spots. If you’re on the southern gulf coast of Florida, this spot has a big ol parking lot with free overnight camping and a FEW Tiki bars to get those romantic juices flowing.

Feeling blessed to have a parking lot in Florida to pirate for the winter. Cold weather RV camping is fun but HARD on equipment and systems, not to mention, plenty of sunshine to grow all new plants to replace the ones we killed crossings the country... mostly due in part to some hungry deer outside of San Antonio.

We spent time exploring some of Florida’s “hammock” ecology today, which is a rare plant system that lives entirely in the trees and requires no soil to thrive. It’s beautiful and full of life and the “hammock “ provides a lot of shade so great for hiking with little ones. But watch yourself, there’s some of the biggest alligators we’ve ever seen here!

Shhhhh! It’s nap time on Tater. Raising a baby on an RV presents a few unique challenges, one of them being not waking Abe up from his naps. Sharing a small space with a baby requires you to mind the little noises you make when moving about. That and also the entire rig shakes even from little movements like when you adjust yourself on the couch so it’s important to tread lightly.

We just recently removed a few wooden bars that made this space more of a crib. Now that Abe is free to get in and out of bed like the rest of us we’re definitely getting a few more visits in the middle of the night than we’d like but ultimately it’s just another small toll to pay on the road to our child’s independence.

Just a couple of studs flexing on some brown pelicans. Their feeding behavior is a lot of fun to watch as these birds can dive from up to 60 feet in the air to catch their fish but we’re pretty sure this guy behind us was just going for the photo bomb. @ Nokomis Beach, Florida
