In this video we take you along on our annual Christmas camping getaway as we hit the road with our Lance 865 truck camper on our RAM 3500 for a long weekend at F.D. Roosevelt State Park near Pine Mountain, Georgia.

From cozy campfire cooking and crisp winter mornings to exploring the park and visiting FDR’s Little White House, the grounds around the house, and the museum, it was the perfect mix of history and outdoor adventure. We also made made our way through the infamous Fantasy of Lights at Callaway Gardens, which really put us in the Christmas spirit with over 10 million Christmas lights and 2,500 acres of holiday cheer. Along the way, we talk about how the truck rides while hauling our Lance 865—why it works well for us even though it wasn’t designed for a long-bed dually, and how that extra space between the cab and camper actually gives us some bonus storage. We also share a few honest pros and cons of truck camper life, and of course, no trip would be complete without a little troubleshooting as we discover a leak under the shower and try to track down the cause. As a bonus, we even weigh our rig at a CAT scale to see how the truck and camper stack up.

All in all, it was a beautiful, memorable weekend and a special way to kick off the holiday season and get us in the mood for Christmas.

In this video, we tackle a much-needed bed upgrade in our truck camper! The residential mattress that came with it was just too thick and heavy, so we ordered a new, thinner mattress from Amazon that fits the space perfectly and gives us more headroom.

On day 13 of our September we headed down to Indiana Dunes National Park on Lake Michigan. Once we arrived, we went straight to the park office for Carla to get her stamp, which was one of the reasons for going. It was beautiful there and it looked more like the ocean than a lake.

If you look really close, you can see Chicago in the distance.

A few shots and some video from our campsite at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground. We enjoyed our stay in site 632. It was a full hookup bridge view site and we could see the bridge very well. The campground was huge but we were able to make use of our scooter to pickup some firewood from the store. Speaking of the store, it was very well stocked with everything from camp supplies to firewood to Ol’ Smoky salted caramel whiskey. It was convenient to most everything in the area and it was BEAUTIFUL! 💕

Day 12 of our September we went to the in Mackinaw City, it was awesome. We also visited downtown and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse near the bridge. We even bought some fudge in downtown Mackinaw City. It was our last day there so we tried to see as much as we could.

Making a SRW Truck Camper Fit on a DRW Truck - Can it be done?

Yes, it wasn't easy but that's right, we made it work! We got the Lance 865 truck camper which is made to be put on a single rear wheel truck to fit past the wide dually tires on our Ram 3500. We weren't sure if it was going to be possible, but we figured it out and it turned out awesome. If you're interested in putting a smaller truck camper on a dually truck, you'll want to see part 1 & 2 of these videos to get an idea what it's going to take. Thanks for watching!

Day 11 of our September continued – We made it to . Wow, what a cool place, it was so charming and it was truly something out of a postcard. No motorized cars or vehicles on the island. Everyone gets around on bikes and carriages; almost makes you wish you could go back in time to when things were that simple.
