Sunsets at The Wilderness Road Blockhouse are absolutely beautiful!

Walking up to this old blockhouse above Natural Tunnel feels like stepping straight into Virginia’s frontier story. This ridge was once a busy crossroads for people heading west, and the Wilderness Road ran just below, with this sturdy log fort serving as a safe staging area before they pushed on toward the Cumberland Gap and Kentucky.

She did it!

The water is a little low right now but there’s still plenty of room to slide. We love this hike because there’s so many places to stop for a swim and it is absolutley beautiful!!

July 4th in Clifton Forge is pure magic. 🇺🇸

There’s just something about spending Independence Day in Clifton Forge that feels like stepping back in time.

From the local choir singing nostalgic songs and heartfelt moments honoring hometown heroes, to homemade ice cream and warm cinnamon donuts, every part of the evening reminded us that the best celebrations are often the simplest ones.

It’s places like this that make us appreciate the traditions, the people, and the small towns that keep them alive. And to cap it all off, they put on one incredible fireworks show.

We’ll definitely be back.
