WTKR is the CBS affiliate serving the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, officially known as the Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News DMA. The station is licensed to Norfolk and broadcasts on digital channel 40, but appears on channel 3 (its old analog channel) on digital converter boxes and most cable systems. Dominion Energy's Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project off the Virginia Beach coast is one of five projects the Trump administration announced Monday it will pause over what it called security concerns.

The decision was made after the Pentagon identified national security risks in recently completed classified reports, according to a release by the Department of the Interior. It goes on to say that unclassified reports have found cases of radar interference from moving wind turbines and "highly reflective towers."

The release says the pause will give the administration time to address security risks with leaseholders and state partners.

A situation early Saturday morning in Newport News led to a person being shot by police after a struggle over a gun, authorities said.

Police said a vehicle approached an officer on scene, and the driver asked for help following a confrontation that had occurred inside the vehicle. During the officer’s investigation, police said the officer saw a firearm inside the vehicle, which led to a struggle with one of the occupants.

A jury found a Wisconsin judge guilty of obstruction Thursday for helping a Mexican immigrant dodge federal authorities, marking a victory for President Donald Trump as he continues his sweeping immigration crackdown across the country.

Federal prosecutors charged Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan with obstruction, a felony, and concealing an individual to prevent arrest, a misdemeanor, in April. The jury acquitted her on the concealment count, but she still faces up to five years in prison on the obstruction count.

The jury returned the verdicts after deliberating for six hours.
