LOOK what I just received in the mail! An Emmy win is a really nice exclamation point on my TV career. This is win #5 for me. But the final three really mean the most because I share them with some wonderful colleagues, including Meteorologist April Loveland, Myles Henderson, Derrah Getter and Meteorologist Kristy Steward.
So, a huge, huge thank you to them!

Whew! Our shower is done! Our condo in Orlando was built in 2008 with a ridiculously large garden tub/shower. It was so big, the 32 gallon water heater couldn't really even fill it! And it was so tall I would stub my toe getting in and out. I can't wait to see it in person soon.

SANTORINI 2009: You know those beautiful places you see online and then the reality is disappointing? This was NOT one of those places! Santorini was spectacular! I only wish we'd spent more time there.
We were visiting Athens and decided at the last minute to take a short flight to the island for just a day. I actually drove a tiny smart car around the island. That was scary. But everything else we did was so amazing. Because it's a volcanic island, the beaches are all different colors - white, black and red. The white and blue buildings are gorgeous and the sunset was truly stunning.
Highly recommended if you get a chance to visit. Just stay for more than a day!

As we countdown to our Mediterranean cruise coming up in less than a month, I've been going through some old travel photos of some of our favorite spots. This was from our 2006 family cruise to Alaska. We were celebrating my folks' 50th anniversary.
It was pretty spectacular. We actually took a helicopter to the top of a glacier and got to walk around! You could hear the cracking as the ice slowly melted and moved. So cool.
One morning we woke up to something hitting the hull of the ship and looked out to see it was chunks of ice. (Bottom right.)
And the weather was surprisingly great. Alaska is known to be pretty rainy in the summer. It only rained for 20 minutes the entire week! Hard to believe this was 19 years ago!
I think we'll re-visit Santorini tomorrow.

A break from the heat! Much of the southeast has been sweltering for the past month. It looks like we’ll get a break in early August. But here in the mountains we’re expecting lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s. Is that too cool for summer?
