SELECT: During a conversation with the trooper, the 13-year-old said she met the male through an online video game. The male had introduced himself as a 16-year-old Texas resident named “Jay.” The male sent the girl a private message with his phone number and asked her to respond.

An arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday for a McAllen, Texas, man accused of posing as a teenager and exchanging explicit photos with a girl from Madison County.

Officers were dispatched after 11 a.m. to the area of 25th Avenue and 16th Street after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a man who had made threats and was believed to be armed with a knife.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we requested schools in the vicinity to go into lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff.”

The Columbus Police Department took a suspect into custody late Wednesday morning following a brief search that led to temporary lockdowns at nearby schools.
