d The Virginian Pilot newspaper. Her column provided common sense advice for common workplace problems. She was the "Dear Abby" for the workplace. Roze continues to facilitate retreats and conduct workshops and seminars on a great many topics pertaining to soft-people skills, including but not limited to leadership, effective communications, mentoring, team building, and customer service. She also conducts one-on-one coaching/mentoring sessions with individuals, helping them find the right jobs (assists with their resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing techniques, networking, etc.); address issues in their current jobs; and transition from one career/job to a new one.

Yesterday, I had the joy of giving a book talk paired with a fun craft project at the Norfolk Public Library’s Lafayette Branch. What a treat!

I shared my heart journey with the ladies, and they painted what “spoke to their hearts” on the nice glass tumblers so generously provided by the library.

To my surprise and much delight, my dear friends, Robyn Neal and Paula Miller, took part! Thank you both from the bottom of my heart!

Those who know me know how much I prefer our cooler seasons. Today marks the first day of Fall, and with it comes hope for not just crisp days ahead, but growth and better times.

Fall reminds us that even as the trees let go of their leaves, it can be a season of renewal and change.

On the eve of Fall, I came across this beautiful heart-shaped leaf. Its vibrant orange with specks of yellow stood out against the salt and pepper pavement - a gentle reminder from up above to never lose hope.

I had the most rewarding time over the weekend.

I gave a book talk and shared some of my heart-finds that aren’t in “HEARTS” with the residents at East Pavilion, the skilled nursing and long term care facility in Franklin, VA. They were all so sweet; they could not have been more welcoming and engaging. It truly warmed my heart.

A big THANK YOU to East Pavilion’s Danielle Dawson, who made this program possible. She arranged it for a day she normally doesn’t work, and made sure all the interested residents could attend. Her selfless efforts and kindness meant the world.

Norfolk Public Library

NORFOLK friends, I’m so excited to share this with all of you!

This fall, I’m partnering with three of our Norfolk Public Library branches for “Author Chat & Paint” events.

During each event, I’ll share my heart journey, the origin of my life symbol and subsequent amazing heart-finds.

Each attendee will be GIFTED a nice glass tumbler from Norfolk. Paint supplies will be on hand for everyone to paint their life symbol on their tumbler, and more discussion will be had.

Space is limited to just 15 attendees at each event, so be sure to sign up when registrations open. If spots are full, still register in case someone cancels.

This heart-find is so beautiful, and its timing felt incredible.

I was talking to a dear friend, wishing him a very happy birthday. We had worked together more than 30 years ago. Though it’s been a very long time since we’ve seen each other, it’s always so easy to reminisce and pick up where we left off.

As we were talking, I stepped out of my car, carefully watching my footing around the roots of an old tree. And that’s when this gorgeous, textured heart appeared.

I can’t help but believe it was a nod from up above, a gentle reminder of how meaningful our old friendships are. Like this majestic tree, we may weather with age, but our true friendships don’t fade. If anything, we cherish them even more.

No matter the distance or the years that have passed, it’s always the right time to reach out to old friends and let them know how much we care about them.

By any chance, can you relate to any of these things?

Waiting for a response to a work-related email you sent over 10 business days ago.

Yearning for a conversation with your deceased parent(s).

Dreading your vitals being taken at an upcoming doctor’s appointment.

Trying to figure out how to get a decent night’s sleep.

Wishing you had no experience with family drama.

Processing the sudden passing of a dear friend.

Wondering why you haven’t received the text or phone call you were “promised.”

Any one of these things can weigh on us, stressing us out, keeping us up at night, swirling in our minds and hurting our hearts.

As much as I can relate to these struggles, I also know how much my heart-finds help soften this chaos. They don’t erase it, but they center me with hope, comfort, and joy.

Here are a few of my recent heart-finds. I hope they bring you peace. You are not alone.

My sister hosted the most lovely book party for me at her home in Concord, MA. It was such a joy to share my book with her wonderful friends. I’ll never forget their kindness, our conversations, and the spirit of the evening. I’m most appreciative to everyone who came, especially my sister for making it all happen.

Feeling so grateful for such a special night and all the heart it held.
