Dear Loyal Listeners – It’s been an amazing 35-year run on Wisconsin Public Radio for “Zorba Paster On Your Health.” Our show, in media speak, "had legs.” And it’s been such a remarkable journey because you, my dear listeners, wanted to listen. For that, I thank you.

For decades, together with Tom Clark and, more recently, with Karl Christenson, I’ve been able to bring you up-to-date health information in a digestible, entertaining form. The calls, the emails, the recipes, the “Quacking Up” – and, of course, let’s not forget the Grammar Police – have all been part of why you tuned in.

It’s always been about helping you think and learn about health and wellness with a dose of humor. The information was as current as it could be, with the goal of empowering you to take action for your own health.

I won’t go into why WPR is ending this and other national shows – it’s not just mine – but you can probably guess: finances, changing listening habits, changing times. They want to and need to focus on Wisconsin programming. If you want more information, just Google it (like I’ve told you to do with so many things). We will be producing new episodes of the show until the end of September.

Now, as we draw the curtain on more than three decades of education and entertainment, I’d love to hear from you. Truly, the more the merrier! What did you get out of the show? How did it change your life? What recipes did you like? If you’re a member of the Grammar Police, by all means chime in (and, by the way, I’m sure you’ll find somewhere else to hone your craft).

Get in touch to share your thoughts – I’d love to know what “Zorba Paster On Your Health” has meant to you. Leave your comment here. Or...

What’s next? I’m not stopping. My weekly column in the Wisconsin State Journal will continue, as will my weekly TV segments on News 3 Now / Channel 3000, our CBS affiliate in Madison. You can bet your booties I’ll still have a media presence.

I’ll soon announce more of what’s coming – look for updates through my column and on TV. I might even take out a billboard (kidding ...perhaps). Just Google my name a week or so after the final radio show (September 27 in Wisconsin), and you’ll find the whole shebang.

My media presence isn’t ending, it’s evolving, as it always has. I’m no Luddite. I embrace technology, as we all should, with an eye to the future and a healthy respect for the past.

I’ve always tried to curate health and wellness information you can trust. That’s why you tuned in. The jokes, the laughter – they were the frosting. But the information? That was the cake. And at 78, I’m far too energized to stop now.

So how do I say goodbye? Well, I won’t. This isn’t really goodbye – it’s more like “Happy Trails,” the song Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to sing at the end of their classic radio and TV shows. Those of a certain age, who grew up on black & white TV, will remember the couple. If you don’t know who they are…yep, it’s Google time. While you’re at it, you might like to hear the Roy and Dale version then jump over to the Janis Joplin version she sang for John Lennon’s birthday – both are on YouTube.

Auf Wiedersehen

– Dr. Zorba Paster

“Happy Trails”

Some trails are happy ones.
Others are blue.
It’s the way you ride the trail that counts.
Here’s a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
Happy trails to you,
Keep smiling until then.

Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
