ARDMORE, Pa. - After spending 30 years in the mortgage business, Chris Holloway never thought he’d end up selling candles.

Chris Holloway was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called FSGS. He thought he had a new lease on life after undergoing a kidney transplant in 2016, but everything changed last year.

The U.S. Postal Service has raised prices once again. After two price increases last year, the USPS implemented another increase Sunday, this one a 7.4% jump for First Class stamps, with a wider series of price increases for other forms of postage.

Stamp prices are up 42% since 2020.

Among all the Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin had the most interesting extracurricular activities. Before he studied electricity or invented bifocals, America’s first postmaster general had a habit of writing essays for his brother’s Boston newspaper under the pseudonym “Silence Dogood.” The 16-year-old posed as a widow because the writing he submitted under his own name was rejected by the New-England Courant, which his older brother James published. Silence had much to say about a variety of subjects, with her commentary touching on such subjects as religion and politics, and she was an instant hit with the weekly paper’s readers — she even received marriage proposals.

In California, the federal government was deep into an investigation of alleged racial discrimination at a school district where, a parent said, students called a Black peer racial slurs and played whipping sounds from their cellphones during a lesson about slavery. Then the U.S. Department of Education in March suddenly closed the California regional outpost of its Office for Civil Rights and fired all its employees there. That investigation and others went silent.

The Trump administration is subverting the traditional priorities of the department’s decimated civil rights office by making discrimination investigations practically impossible — instead enforcing its own anti-diversity campaign.

🌎✨ What an unforgettable day at the 36th Annual Spring Festival at North Penn High School! Tens of vibrant vendors, stunning cultural displays, the amazing Parade of Nations, 4 lively performance stages, a Health & Wellness Fair, and so many fun kids' activities. 🎉

I was especially blown away by how engaged the kids were with the Passport Program — visiting all 29 cultures of the world represented! Watching them explore, learn, and celebrate diversity was pure magic. 🛂💫

More children ages 1 to 4 die of drowning than any other cause of death. Nearly a quarter of adults received mental health treatment in 2023, an increase of 3.4 million from the prior year. The number of migrants from Mexico and northern Central American countries stopped by the U.S.

By slashing teams that gather critical data, the administration has left the federal government with no way of understanding if policies are working — and created a black hole of information whose consequences could ripple out for decades.
