This school year, I had the chance to be part of something really special: Project Raise Your Hand, a volunteer initiative from the South Carolina Department of Education.
I spent time in a third grade classroom, and it quickly became one of the most meaningful parts of my week. The students welcomed me with open arms, and it reminded me just how much impact a simple act of presence and encouragement can have.
Project Raise Your Hand is all about building a network of volunteers—from businesses, churches, nonprofits, and the community—to support our schools, teachers, and students. It’s part of our agency’s larger goal to ensure that by 2030, at least 75% of students are at or above grade level and that every child graduates college, career, or military ready.
If you’re looking for a way to give back, I can’t recommend this enough. There’s a place for everyone, whether it’s mentoring, helping with classroom tasks, or just sitting with students at lunch.

You don’t have to do a lot to make a difference. Sometimes, it just takes raising your hand. ❤️
