HONORING THIRTY-THREE YEARS OF SERVICE

The City of Coos Bay, the Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD), and the Coos Bay Police Officers Association proudly recognize Senior Officer Robert Scoville for his 33 years of dedicated service in public safety.

After a distinguished career in which he served for the North Bend Police Department, Coquille Tribal Police Department, and the Coos Bay Police Department, Senior Officer Scoville officially retired on July 1, 2025.

Senior Officer Scoville’s career in law enforcement began in March of 1990 when he was hired by the North Bend Police Department. In 1994 Senior Officer Scoville was hired by the Coos Bay Police Department. Senior Officer Scoville worked for the Coos Bay Police Department for 14 years, before leaving to work for the State of Oregon for several years. It wasn’t long before he missed serving as a police officer, so Senior Officer Scoville returned to law enforcement when he was hired by the Coquille Tribal Police Department in 2011. Senior Officer Scoville served 9 years with the Coquille Tribal Police Department before he returned home to the Coos Bay Police Department in 2020.

During his distinguished career, Senior Officer Scoville served in almost every role and collateral duty and did an amazing job in each. He worked as a Watch Commander, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Field Training Officer, K-9 Officer for both detection and patrol, K-9 Trainer and K-9 Master Trainer (Oregon Police Canine Assoc.), Detective, Narcotics Detective (SCINT), Motors Officer, and his final role was as our School Resource Officer.

Senior Officer Scoville holds his Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced law enforcement certificates through the Oregon Department of Public Safety, Standards, and Training.

Senior Officer Scoville has been married for 31 years to his lovely wife Amy, and together they have raised two sons, Ryan and Nolan. It should be noted that both Ryan and Nolan have followed their father into law enforcement and both are serving as police officers for the Coos Bay Police Department.

In recognition of his exemplary career, the City of Coos Bay presented Senior Officer Scoville with a shadow box honoring his 33 years of dedicated service as well as a certificate from the Oregon Department of Public Safety, Standards, and Training. In addition, Amy Scoville was presented with a certificate from the Department of Public Safety, Standards, and Training for her steadfast support of her husband throughout his career.

Senior Officer Scoville’s positive influence, mentorship, and many contributions to law enforcement and public safety will not be forgotten, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his many years of service to the citizens of Coos Bay.

Congratulations, Senior Officer Scoville, on a well-earned retirement!
