Bitchin' Witch Podcast LIVE tonight at 5:30 PM PST!

😡🔥 Episode 9: If Your Light Requires You to Burn, It’s Not Enlightenment 🔥😡

Tonight, we’re calling out the "burnout-as-spirituality" trap. Real light does not demand sacrifice, and real wisdom does not ask you to disappear.

In this episode, we’re breaking down:

The Hijacking of "Light": How healing became productivity and growth became endurance.

True Jyoti: Reclaiming the inner light that remains when you stop performing for others.

Rest is New, Not Wrong: Why your nervous system panics when you slow down—and why you must do it anyway.

Anger as Illumination: Using your fire to say "enough" to overgiving and shrinking.

You are not unspiritual because you chose yourself. You are not broken because you are tired.

A Gentle Yule Practice (No Tools Required)
If you wish to mark the Solstice in a simple, embodied way, try this:
On the night of Yule, light a single candle — or imagine one if flame is not accessible.
Sit with it quietly.
Ask yourself:
What has endured in me this year, even when things were hard?
Do not rush the answer.
Do not judge what arises.
Then ask:
What does my inner flame need protection from right now?
Let the answers be imperfect. Fragmented. Emotional.
That is the language of the dark.

What Yule Asks of Us Now
Yule does not ask you to manifest.
It does not ask you to optimize.
It does not ask you to reinvent yourself before the calendar turns.
It asks something far simpler — and far harder:
To rest without guilt

To stop forcing clarity

To let the dark finish its work

To protect what is sacred in you

This is a season for tending, not transforming.
For listening, not deciding.
For warming what already exists instead of demanding more.

Ancestral Memory of the Long Night
There is something ancestral that wakes up in us at this time of year.
Our bodies remember winters without electricity. Without endless resources. Without guarantees. They remember nights that were truly dark — and the relief of surviving them together.
Yule is not just a solar event; it is a lineage memory.
Our ancestors did not celebrate because the dark was over.
They celebrated because they had made it through.
And they knew the light would return because it always had.
You carry that knowing in your bones, even if you cannot name it.

The Sacred Fire Is Not a Bonfire

Yule is often symbolized by fire — but not the wild, raging kind.
This is hearth fire.
Candle fire.
Ember fire.

Fire that is tended, not fed endlessly. Fire that warms without consuming everything in reach.

This is where so many of us have gone wrong.

We were taught to treat ourselves like bonfires — always blazing, always giving heat, always visible. And when exhaustion inevitably followed, we blamed ourselves instead of the culture that demanded constant burning.

Tejas reminds us that endurance comes from protection, not intensity.

If your flame is low right now, that does not mean it is weak.
It means it is wise.

Darkness Is Not the Enemy

One of the most damaging myths we’ve inherited is that darkness must be escaped.
That it is a failure.
A flaw.
Something to fix.

But witches know better.

Darkness is not absence — it is containment.
It is the soil where seeds rest.
The womb before birth.
The night sky where stars become visible.

At the Solstice, darkness reaches its peak not to defeat us, but to hold us. To give us permission to stop striving, stop performing, stop pretending we are fine when we are tired to the bone.

Tejas does not ask you to banish the dark.
It asks you to let the dark protect your fire.

Because fire that is protected endures.

Yule Is a Threshold, Not a Resolution
Modern culture loves a reset.
A clean slate.
A dramatic rebirth.
A before-and-after story.
But Yule is not that.
Yule is a threshold — a liminal space where nothing is finished and nothing has fully begun. It is the pause between inhale and exhale. The quiet after grief but before clarity. The place where we sit with what has been instead of rushing toward what’s next.
In older traditions, this night was honored not with urgency, but with watchfulness. Fires were banked, not flung wide. Candles were lit and protected. People gathered close, shared warmth, told stories, and trusted that the sun would return — not because they demanded it, but because it always does.
There is deep magic in that kind of trust.

Tejas Is Not the Fire That Performs

We are surrounded by messages that insist energy must be visible to be real.
Be brighter.
Be louder.
Be more productive.
Be positive.
Burn.

But Tejas is not that kind of fire.

Tejas (तेजस्) is the inner heat — the sacred vitality that survives because it knows when to rest, when to withdraw, when to conserve its fuel. It is the fire that does not consume itself for approval. The fire that does not go out simply because it is not on display.

At Yule, Tejas teaches us something ancient and deeply witchy:

Fire does not disappear in the dark.
It steadies.
It pulls inward.
It waits.

And in that waiting, it endures.

At the Longest Night: Yule, Tejas, and the Sacred Art of Letting the Dark Hold You

There is a moment in the turning of the year when the world grows very quiet.
Not empty.
Not lifeless.

Quiet in the way a held breath is quiet.
Quiet in the way a flame draws itself inward to survive the wind.

The Winter Solstice — Yule — is that moment.

It is the longest night of the year, when darkness reaches its fullness and does not apologize for it. When the fire does not yet leap or announce itself, but steadies — contained, protected, and alive. The turning happens not in brilliance, but in endurance.

This is not a holiday about victory or conquest.
It is not about forcing hope where none exists.

It is about trust.

And this year, our guiding word — Tejas (तेजस्) — asks us to understand fire differently than we’ve been taught.

Tejas is not the blaze meant to be seen.
It is the inner heat that keeps you alive.
The courage that stays when spectacle fades.
The vitality that knows when to rest so it may last.

Yule teaches us that survival is sacred. That withdrawing is not failure. That the dark can hold us without extinguishing what matters most.

Tonight, we do not demand the light return faster.
We tend the flame we already carry.

We let the darkness cup it —
not to smother,
but to protect.
