Did some rearranging last night in the studio, got everything a little closer together to make for easier work…. Two different recording systems next to each other now.

While the recording equipment at the Nerd Lounge is not totally obsolete, (we’re talking analog, reel to reel type recording), we are not totally up today’s top notch recording specks. Earlier this week, we have taken steps towards moving forward.

We have gotten a PC with some recording software which will, hopefully someday, take over for our 32- track digital recorder.

Now I’m not really tech savvy, but I’m hoping to have some ease at editing and crap with this new system…. Baby steps, baby steps….

Just released yesterday on Bandcamp.com, Mike has released “Kvidera Covers The Classics Volume 2”. Ten great cover tune track such as “Sail On, Sailor”, “Bargain”, and “She’s Waiting”. Check out this album, as well as volume 1 and all other albums by Mike now on Bandcamp.com.

For like the last month or so, I’ve been working off and on on a Billy Joel cover, “Allentown”. Using a piano track off of YouTube, and adding my own guitars, bass, and drums. I also added some factory sound effects to boot. But what has been taking the longest is recording the damn vocals!! It’s not an easy song to sing!! But I think I’ve finally got it, and I should be mixing a master soon!

Mike has a new album out on Bandcamp.com, check it out it’s called “Kvidera Covers The Classics”, and it features cover tunes like, “Dumb Ways To Die”, “Against All Odds”, “Take Me Back”, and the first single from the album, a haunting cover of Nirvana’s cover of “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”.

Back in the fall of 2000, Kvidmusic released the live CD, “Tequila Rose. Down By The Riverside.” The tracks were recorded over a two night gig the band had at the now demolished Riverside Inn on June 9th and 10th. The CD, now unfortunately, out of print, will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. Tentative long range plans might have an expanded, 2-CD set come out next year with one CD featuring songs played on June 9th and the other one from June 10th.
