Employee of the week 😍
Meet Raspberry. She is the matriarch or our bunch, both by blood and by force. If there is a fence she doesn’t like, it’s gone. If there is a speck of grain left, it’s hers. She’s the loudest, pushiest and sweetest goat here. She definitely keeps us on our toes and makes us question our life choices daily. She is a mini Nubian and her milk is delightful!

We thought our third rhubarb plant was lost to the drought last fall. The other two were in a rush to meet the sun and have been up for weeks now. This one showed no signs of growth until today! I’m rooting for you underdog rhubarb!

Through indeed! It was a long night but she is almost ready to do baby goat stuff. Be on the look out for some cute baby goat/puppy cross over episodes.

Everyone had gotten some colostrum from mom and were able to stand before I went to bed. Mom was responsive to each baby but I had my eye on the smallest, first born girl. I set my alarm for every 2 hours so I could keep a close eye. The 1:30 check found her weak and too cold. I quickly brought her in the house warmed her with a hair dryer. Once thoroughly warmed I offered her a bottle which she took with a vigor that surprised me considering her overall appearance. So now we snuggle while the rest of the house sleeps. Well, except for the puppies. They never sleep when we do.
In the famous words of Bandit and also possibly a Zen master, “obstacles aren’t in the path, they are the path”. So here we are. At 2am. With only one way. Through.
