Our Story
The Florida Native Butterfly Society has a 3400 sq. ft, green house which is host to a butterfly garden that has a variety of Florida native butterfly species. Our extensive breeding program allows visitors to experience the various stages of butterfly development in a tranquil atmosphere. We are located inside The Butterfly Estates. You may have visited a butterfly house where they set out or give you fruit so the butterflies will land around or on you. We are an educational facility to help teach you about the life cycle and importance of our pollinators. We don’t set out or give you fruit to attract the butterflies. We have loads of flowering plants with nectar for our butterflies. This is the most natural setting for you to experience the entire life cycle. We hand raise all of our butterflies through their entire life cycle from egg through chrysalis. We release the newly emerged butterflies into the butterfly house every day at 10:30 am. The range can be anywhere from 1 - 40 butterflies released depending on weather, season and how many have gone into chrysalis.
We are a Not for Profit Organization (501c3). We do not receive any funds from state or local government entities. We rely strictly on admissions and private donations. We could not do our vital work without your help. Thank you so much for your support.
