This is such a bold faced Trump lie that it’s infuriating. Teeny, tiny progress in a narrow corner of the problem doesn’t equal “mission accomplished.” Also worth noting that TrumpRx is essentially the same as GoodRx. I’m happy for the folks that got a modest discount on only a few select drugs, though.

The economy sucked on election day in 2024, but we were still better off than everybody else. They all had it worse than we did. Biden delivered an improving economy that had been decimated by the pandemic. Fun fact: the global supply chain, which is immensely complex, was torn apart by COVID. Because Biden was experienced in government, he was able to help rebuild the supply chain more quickly. The bottom line is that Trump won in 2024 because people didn’t have the full economic picture. We took an economic gamble on Trump, and look what he delivered.

There are too many lies and misrepresentations in this to put in one post. for instance, much of the investment Trump claims to have secured would get spent over decades. But I honestly don’t know if he gets that he’s wrong or he actually believes this sh*t.

The ballroom-size lies about this project are hard to track because Trump deliberately conflates things when convenient. Private money is covering the fun stuff: ordinary engineering and construction, decorations, fixtures, floors, ceilings, walls, and other above ground parts of the project. But the existence of the fun part has forced the Secret Service and other agencies to divert hundreds of millions of dollars from their budgets to do all the security stuff. The White House is one of the most secure buildings in the world and absolutely did not need security upgrades. We’re paying for them, anyway.

Trump is a man who will find every version of a lie and use it. I’m not sure that he understands how taxation works for normal people but, whether he does or doesn’t, these claims are VERY VERY VERY misleading.

And for what it’s worth, Kamala’s “no tax on tips” plan was better than this hogwash.

It’s so insulting that Trump has not only demolished our economy (which The Economist said was the “envy of the world” when he took office), but he continues to lie about who pays for tariffs and how much the government has raised. Just remember: American consumers foot the bill for tariffs, which is why they’re supposed to be used surgically. You and I wrote the check for this mess.

Trump couldn’t issue a check to every American without an act of Congress. Even if the GOP holds the House (they won’t) and holds the Senate (questionable), there still wouldn’t be enough votes to make this into law. And that’s just one of the many reasons why this would never happen.

The GOP convention in Dallas has been full of lies, but the guy trying to unseat Jon Ossoff really has no shame. It’s gotta be tough to be losing to a younger, smarter, more charismatic man who has the job you always wanted. 🤷‍♂️
