I’m thrilled to share that two extraordinary musicians, Peppy Castro and Tommy Denander, are joining me in the effort to bring Branigan to fruition.
Peppy Castro is a true rock-and-roll veteran, a founding member of the legendary Blues Magoos, an original cast member of Broadway’s Hair, and a gifted songwriter whose work has been recorded by artists including Cher, Diana Ross and KISS. Most importantly for this project, Peppy knew and worked with Laura. He wrote and recorded an unreleased song with her that, if we can secure the necessary permissions, may finally receive its premiere in Branigan. The possibility of allowing audiences to hear something Laura recorded but the world has never experienced is incredibly exciting.
Tommy Denander is a multi-platinum guitarist, songwriter and producer whose remarkable career includes work with Michael Jackson, Alice Cooper, Paul Stanley, Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, Peter Cetera and countless others. Beyond his tremendous musical background, Tommy understands how important it is to approach Laura’s life and legacy with honesty, respect and heart.
Having Peppy and Tommy lend their experience, talent and belief to this project is both humbling and energizing. Branigan has grown into a far greater undertaking than I first imagined, but with people like these standing beside me, the dream of bringing Laura’s story and perhaps even a piece of unheard music to the screen feels a little closer to becoming a reality.
