This is what impaired driving looks like and it is 100% preventable.

Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pole collision overnight. The impact was severe and caused significant roadway damage and debris across the area.

We share this as a reminder driving drunk is never worth the risk.

Lives are changed in an instant…yours, your passengers, innocent drivers, and their families.

If you drink:
Use a rideshare or taxi
Call a friend or loved one
Designate a sober driver
Stay where you are

There is always another option. There is no excuse to get behind the wheel impaired.

Thank you to our officers, firefighters, and public works crews who responded and cleared the scene to keep our community safe.

Please …stop driving drunk. Your decisions on the road affect everyone. Let’s look out for one another.

officers conducted a mini-bike enforcement stop involving a 15-year-old rider. The rider was cited for violations and the mini-bike was impounded for public safety.

Mini-bikes, dirt bikes, and other off-road vehicles are not legal for use on public roads in Nevada unless they are registered, titled, and equipped to meet street-legal requirements (lights, brake lights, DOT tires, mirrors, turn signals, etc.).

Riding unregistered motorized bikes on streets or sidewalks can lead to citations, vehicle impoundment, and fines, especially when safety hazards to riders or the public are present.

What Nevada Law Requires (for street use):
Registration and title through DMV
Vehicle to meet street-legal standards
A licensed driver operating the vehicle
Proper lighting and safety equipment (Always confirm the most current requirements with Nevada DMV)

Safety Tips for Riders & Families:
⚠️ Always use appropriate protective gear (helmet, eye protection, gloves)
⚠️ Keep mini-bikes on private property or approved off-road areas only
⚠️ Never ride on public roads, sidewalks, or busy intersections
⚠️ Obey speed limits and local ordinances
⚠️ Ensure riders have proper instruction and supervision

We want everyone to enjoy recreational riding but safely and legally. If you see mini-bike activity on city streets that could endanger riders or others, please call non-emergency dispatch so officers can respond.

Let’s keep our roads safe for everyone.

Today, we pause to remember Detective Chad Parque, who lost his life in the line of duty on January 7, 2017, following a tragic on-duty traffic collision.

Detective Parque was a dedicated public servant, a beloved member of our NLVPD family, and a 10-year veteran who served this community with compassion, integrity, and heart.

On Jan. 6, 2017, Detective Parque was critically injured in a head-on collision with a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Carey Avenue. He succumbed to his injuries the following day. He was just 32 years old.

Chad is remembered not only for the badge he wore, but for his kindness, character, faith, humor, and the love he had for his family, friends, and fellow officers.

His legacy continues to live on through those who knew him and through the community he proudly served.

To honor his sacrifice, the Northwest Area Command police station will be officially dedicated in his name, exactly nine years to the day after his end of watch.

The ceremony will include the Parque family, City of North Las Vegas leadership, and NLVPD Command Staff as we unveil a bronze dedication plaque in his memory.
