Support grows worldwide as Carel Pedre is transferred to a remote “Alligator Alcatraz” ICE facility.

Pedre was transferred after posting bond on the domestic violence charge in Broward County, Florida, where he was initially arrested. He is now being held at a detention center in the Florida Everglades widely referred to as “Alligator Alcatraz,” a remote immigration facility where access and communication are limited.

Records show ICE alleges Pedre overstayed a tourist visa after entering the U.S. in February 2025. Both the criminal case and immigration proceedings remain ongoing, and it is unclear when he will return to Broward County court to address the initial charge.

Haitians across the world are sharing messages, prayers, and calls for due process online as the situation continues to unfold.
