Want to give a huge shoutout to a couple organizations that are helping with our Christmas Baskets. The American Legion Post 163 300 pounds of ground beef for the baskets, 600 pounds of great ground beef by a local company Birdwood beef! The Walmart DC for donating all the turkey!! Malines Grocery Store in Sutherland for the canned goods donated! The great business that donated money, gift certificates, or prizes for the baskets as well. Kubota for the generator for a prize, Zathan Pelland 250 dollar gift Certificate for a tattoo for a prize! Great Plains Foot and Ankle for a generous donation to help us out, Jersey Mikes for a generous donation. Husker Radio for advertisements and letting us get our message out! The DAV Chapter 3 North Platte crew! Not just for this but all year what these Ladies and Gentlemen do! If I’m forgetting anyone I will update as well. If you know anyone in need of a basket please reach out to us. We want to help every veteran in need or that needs a pick me up!

Got word from the Veteran service officer. State leadership is trying access funds from the Veteran's Aid fund. They are wanting to pull about 12.5 million from it in total. They’ve tried before but didn’t work from the sounds of it. Now they want to try again. Our fear is if this happens when will they try again.

This money was donated by the federal government back in 1921. Every state received money from to help veterans. Nebraska was one of the smarter states and invested and grew it, so now we can help more veterans.

If we continue to allow politicians to access these funds inappropriately, eventually it will go dry. We will continue to update.

A huge thank you to North Platte Kubota for their generous donation of a 750W Generator to our December Raffle! Your continued support helps make this event a big success for our local DAV Chapter year after year.

This year's raffle drawing will be held at the D&N Center here in North Platte on December 14th and is a huge part of our fundraising. The proceeds support our outreach programs to Veterans in the area, like our Christmas Baskets, which provide Christmas Meals and some extra food for the holidays to veterans in need.

If you'd like to purchase raffle tickets, (there are only 500 being sold!!) and they will be available at the D&N Center at our booth, Dec 13-14th, or from any of our members before then. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20.

If you know of a veteran that could use some extra food this holiday season, please shoot us a message with their name and address so we can add them to our list!
