The North Platte Bulletin

The North Platte Bulletin An independent news service for west-central Nebraska We launched the Bulletin in April 2003 in the basement of a home off downtown North Platte.

A subscription to our weekly print edition is just $48 a year for Lincoln County residents... $53 for outside of the county. When we started, we dedicated our effort to straightforward news about North Platte — a community that is vital to central and western Nebraska. Having worked in journalism for many years, we were tired of, even sometimes ashamed of, the corporate news structure and its fran

chised approach to people and events — and stories about things that happen in faraway places. We knew creating the weekly Bulletin would be a tough but joyful business. We publish a weekly print issue plus a special edition for Nebraskaland Days. More than 25,000 news stories have appeared on our website – nearly 2,500 in the last year alone — an average of nearly seven stories each day of the year. We don’t belong to any state or national news service. We are truly a homegrown newspaper. We’ve covered the hottest stories and projects as well as the smallest, paying attention to the cop on the street, the criminal behind bars, the history of the county and the impressive variety of arts, entertainment and good deeds. In our community, we are proud to organize and host the annual "Music on the Bricks" weekends. We have hosted twice-a-month Open Mic Nites for more than 15 years and in the past, emceed at Rail Fest and the Country Bluegrass festival. We have covered most every facet of North Platte and Lincoln County, and we believe it is the best place to live and work in Nebraska.

This seems to us to be closer to the mark than characterizing the accused killer as far-left or far-right.
This article is definitely worth reading.

As the motives of the suspected assassin are still being investigated, markings on the bullet casings point to a dark movement in meme culture – where young people fantasise about disrupting and destroying the world through chaos. Chloe Combi reports

Mackenzie's Snack Shack has removed all her social media due to the uproar ensuing from a provocative post after the death of Charlie Kirk.

She asked for space to apologize. We are providing it in hopes it will be constructive.
We know emotions are raw and deep from the terrible assassination and emotions are likely to remain with us for the foreseeable future.
On the other hand, we also know that hate creates more hate.
This is not a forum for hate and/or threats, which will be deleted.

Her apology--

There is a line between what is appropriate and what isn't.

I have crossed that line.

As a public figure, I have the responsibility to move with humanity, love, acceptance, and setting a positive example. I failed my community, my children, family, and neighbors whom I greatly care for.

My failure to see past my own personal pain, anxiety, and hardships led me to make a bad judgement about what I shared on social media.

I am deeply sorry.

My intentions were never to hurt my community. Unfortunately, I have.

I can never take my actions back. I however, want to undertake the task of correcting my mistakes within the community, although it may be impossible for some to accept my apology. I am committed to take accountability for my actions.

They were wrong and distasteful.

My husband and I understand that the hurt we caused has cost us. A price we are willing to accept, if it comes to that.

We plan to keep our doors open and continue our work. We wish to turn over a new leaf and rebuild trust, comfort, community, approval, and love with you. We hope that we can.

Mending fences is very important. We welcome positive engagement if members of our community are willing. Thank you to those who have checked in, offered help, and showed kindness to us and our children.

Also, thanks to George Lauby and the Bulletin for this platform from which to apologize.
