🚧 Flood Recovery Update: Repairs have started in the Dakota Valley Elementary parking lot, which the temporary access road to Penrose Dr. runs through. The access road remains open for now, but expect brief delays during construction throughout July. We’ll provide advance notice of any anticipated closures. We know how deeply the 2024 flood has affected our community. Work is underway behind the scenes, and we’re getting ready to announce Phase 1 of the Homeowner Recovery Fund to provide support where it’s needed most. We will share more details as soon as they’re available.

As part of ongoing community recovery efforts, the Union County Long-Term Recovery Group is also hosting a public outreach event this Saturday, June 28th from 4-9PM at Park Jefferson Speedway.

CDBR-DR Draft Action Plan Now Live!

The State of South Dakota is receiving $15,375,000 in long-term recovery funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program.

These funds will help North Sioux City and Union County recover from the severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding that hit the state in 2024. Our Draft Action Plan outlines how these funds will address unmet needs in the hardest-hit ZIP codes with a focus on the HUD-designated most impacted and distressed areas.

🚧 Traffic Update for Northshore Dr & Penrose Dr 🚧

Heads up, neighbors! The speed limit on Northshore Drive and Penrose Drive has been temporarily lowered to 15 MPH due to ongoing construction in the area. 🚧⚠️

Please drive carefully and obey the new speed limit—not just for your safety, but for the safety of the construction crews working nearby.

👮‍♂️ Be aware: Police will be actively patrolling the area to enforce the speed change.
