Part 2: April’s report card is in. 🩷

In 6.5 years as a club, this might be one of the most polarizing reads we’ve ever had — and honestly? The discussion proved it from the very first second. It was a clear yay or nay right out of the gate, and everyone felt strongly about their side.

Those who didn’t love it (yours truly included 🙋🏻‍♀️) had Very Specific Reasons. Those who loved it were equally passionate about the beauty and depth of Tartt’s writing. And somehow that made for one of the most lively, entertaining discussions we’ve had in a long time.

In the end, the hearts won out over the balls — but just barely.

🩷🎱 And although some of us feel like we wasted 24 hours of our life reading a book where nothing happens… we’re still glad we did it. Because well, BOOKCLUB. Obviously.

There’s something kind of magic about a book that splits a room so cleanly. It’s not always about loving what you read — sometimes it’s about what it makes you feel and say and argue about for two hours. That’s what Bookclub is for.

So tell us… where did YOU land on The Secret History?? 👇 Yay or nay, we want to know. 🩷

✨April BOTM: Recap Part 1✨

After a few reschedules, we FINALLY made it happen — and wow, did April’s BOTM deliver a discussion worthy of its reputation. 🖤

The Secret History by Donna Tartt is one of those books that splits a room right down the middle. Hearts vs. balls. Masterpiece vs. overrated. And then there were the brave souls somewhere in between holding the middle ground.

For the record — the hearts won out. But don’t let that fool you. Three of us (yours truly included) had thoughts. Feelings. Strong ones.

Is it a classic? Apparently so. Is it for everyone? Absolutely not. But I’ll be honest — this one is going to linger with me for a while. Because really. WTF.

And can we talk about ‘s casting calls for a second? 👀 Swipe to slides 2 & 3 because she absolutely nailed it — as always. Iconic. We don’t deserve her. 🎬

Attendance report card coming soon — but first, tell us where YOU land 👇

So we’re adding something new: virtual monthly meetups in between our quarterly library sessions — because great books don’t keep, and neither do great discussions.

Lit & Libations: Spring Book Fair 📚🍹

On April 2nd, we had one of those nights where everything just clicked.

partnered with and the incredible team at to bring our Lit & Libations Spring Book Fair Edition to life — and the response genuinely blew us away!

The room was full of readers browsing a beautifully curated pop-up book fair, sipping custom cocktails made just for the night (a Frozen Guava Cooler and Rhubarb Daiquiri were the crowd favorites), and grazing a snack spread we are still thinking about.

And then there was Bookish Bingo. 🎉 We handed out boards and watched people race to fill their squares — because yes, there were prizes for the fastest finishers. Let’s just say the competition was friendly. Mostly.

The energy in that room reminded us exactly why we do this. Readers are the best people. Buffalo readers especially.
Thank you to for hosting us so beautifully, and to for curating a selection that had everyone leaving with the most covers & stories.

See you at the next one. 💜

Some nights just have a way of reminding you why community matters. 🌷✨

A few weeks ago, we teamed up with for an evening of spring bulb planting, gorgeous blooms, and a book discussion that had us all talking over each other in the best way possible.

Everyone went home with dirt on their hands and a spring garden they planted themselves — and honestly? We wouldn’t change a thing. 📚🌿

Grateful for our partnership with for making this night everything and more. 🌸🐇

🏛️ April Book of the Month: The Secret History 🏛️

They say “beauty is terror,” and this month, we’re putting that to the test. We are diving into the atmospheric, dark academic world of Donna Tartt’s The Secret History.

Think: Ancient Greek translations, elite New England ivory towers, questionable moral compasses, and a murder revealed on page one—but the why is where things get truly haunting. 🕯️📜

Whether you’re a first-time reader or looking for an excuse to revisit Hampden College, grab your trench coat and your favorite pen. It’s time to join the inner circle.

Save the Date: Strangers to Booklovers Discussion We’ll be gathering in person to deconstruct every twist, theory, and Greek tragedy-inspired moment. Bring your annotated copies and your best theories!

700 FOLLOWERS!! 🎉✨

Yes, we see you counting the zeroes — there are only two of them. No, we haven’t gone viral (yet). But honestly? We don’t care, because these 700 are ours and we are OBSESSED with every single one of you. 🧡

We decided to build this little Instagram community in late 2024 and launched our public events in 2025, and what followed has been nothing short of unbelievable. The people we’ve met, the connections we’ve made, the books we’ve argued about passionately — it’s been everything. 📚

We can’t wait to see what the rest of 2026 has in store for us — and we want YOU along for the whole ride. Cheers to the readers, the lurkers, the ones who show up, and the ones who just really love a good book.

🥂 Happy reading!
