Shannon Grunden, who served as a “floater” within the Jennings County School Corporation since 2023, is named on paperwork filed in the courthouse by special prosecutor Lynsey Fleetwood. The allegations against him would both be level 6 felonies, according to the documents on file.

That is what happened to Danny Struck, JCHS graduate and current wrestling coach at Jeffersonville. He states that he had so many experiences, he just had to put them to paper, hence his book was born. "Climbing for Gold, Experience the World Through Wrestling" is available on Amazon.

Scott Brown, owner of Hoosier Home Furnishings, in downtown North Vernon is finally hanging it up. He was recently the guest of honor at a party in his honor. The banner on the wall behind him appropriately reads, "Congratulations Quitter."

The organizers of the annual Hayden Daze couldn’t have picked a more beautiful day than they did this year. Crowds flocked to downtown Hayden for the 5K, to look at antique tractors, watch Hall of Fame Inductions, see a parade, and most of all, eat the chicken that the Spencer Township Fire Dept. had on the grill.

Wednesday, Aug. 27, Jennings County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to an address on Ascot Court to serve a circuit court arrest warrant.

When deputies arrived at the address, they learned that the individual with the warrant was inside the residence. Upon entering, deputies found Dustin Patterson, 39, of North Vernon, hiding inside a closet. Two other individuals, the homeowner, Eric Armstrong, and Wendy Forwalt, a resident, were detained.

Wednesday, Aug. 27, Jennings County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to an address on Ascot Court to serve a circuit court arrest warrant.

The NHRA U.S. Nationals on Saturday, was more than just a drag race. Jennings County’s own deputy Blake Maynard was honored as Fire Department Coffee Community Hero of the event. He was recognized in front of thousands of spectators prior to the Top Fuel and Funny Car races and then he and his father, Jerry Maynard, got to watch some of the races close to the starting line.

📍🚧 S.R. 7 and County Road 300 West - Jennings Co.

Beginning on or after Tuesday, September 2, crews will temporarily close County Road 300 West at S.R. 7 to perform roadway repair work. C.R. 300 W will close from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day for up to two days, weather permitting.
