A pandemic-era program that was bolstered during the last administration provided Riverwalk Market Fair with funds to purchase leftover produce from its vendors to help stock Rice County food shelves. Although the current administration cut the program's funding, the community are determined to keep it going.

Over 5,000 pounds of fresh produce, nearly $15,000 worth, was purchased from local farmers for the local food bank in just 10 weeks last year through the Farm to Families

Northfield Public Schools are still in need of three tutors for the fall. The paid positions are open to anyone excited to work with kids, able to commit to 25-35 hours a week and follow a set curriculum.

Early intervention is an important piece to a student’s ability to catch back up, according to a regional recruiter of tutors. She said most anyone can help stop the decline

The Taste of Summer Fest was a resounding success for the Rotary Club of Northfield, selling about 100 tickets more than organizers had hoped.

Shayne Okerstrom and Abby Kampa drove down to Northfield Thursday evening, from St. Paul and Lakeville, respectively, where they spent hours testing locally crafted beer, wine and spirits.

County officials anticipate the Rice-Steele 911 Dispatch Center, which is moving into the former Rice County Law Enforcement Center, will be operational by spring.
