I believe recording is about having great gear, feeling comfortable in a great space, and playing great takes. Our control room is a comfortable 12 x 16 room, that opens to our main 16 x 22 live room. The control also opens to a 30x20 space.. The studio is surrounded by woods so there are no distractions, other than the occasional bear and bobcat. We are a Pro Tools based studio. We run the Apoll

o UA system, through a Neve 5060 console. We have a pair of 8050 Genelec monitors that gives you a great stereo image of what is happening. We have a bunch of great mics, including a Telefunken U47, an AEA R44, a Neumann U87, a Royer R121 ribbon, Telefunken Copperhead, A pair of Telefunken M60's, Telefunken ELA 260, 2 Sure KSM32's, AKG 414, C3000, D112, C1000, 2-MD421's among others. Pre's include a pair of Neve portico IIs, a pair of API 512c's, a pair of Shadow Hills Mono GamaDBX 586 Dual Vacuum Tube Pre, HHB Radius 10, Presonus Digimax. A pair of Empirical Labs EL8-X Distressors
Rossetta AD convertors. Neve MBP



Drums (60''s slingerland, and a Classic Maple Ludwig set) are set up and mic'd to save you time money. We have a Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Hammond B3 Organ with Leslie, a clavinet, moog, an upright bass, 1974 PBass, 2001 Gibson jumbo, 910 Taylor acoustic, 816C Taylor acoustic, 314 Taylor Nylon, , 72 Gibson SG, 2002 Les Paul Standard, 2004 Fender Strat, 2012 Gretsch 6120, 76 Fender Twin Reverb, Carr Lincoln, Carr Mercury, Fender Hot Rod, Mandolin, Accordion, ukulele, which are all available for you to use. I play bass, guitar, drums, mandolin, etc... and play as part of the hourly rate. Session drummers, keys, singers etc… are available upon request. I am a full time musician. Telling the story of the song in a believable way is the real key to making great records. Too often people get caught up in perfection when listening to playbacks as they record. People just don’t listen to music this way. Think about your favorite records and what you love about them. I will guess that it’s not that every note is sung perfectly, and in fact, I’ll bet that many of the things you love are the imperfections.

Sly Stone and Brian Wilson were such huge influences on me as a producer and songwriter. Genius often gets thrown around too often musically, but there two deserve the title. Pet Sounds and Sly and the Family Stone greatest hits both rank in my top 5 most listened to albums of all time. I am grateful they shared their music with the world for all of us to hear.

Our Story

It has become more apparent as I work with clients every day, that most people come in needing more than just a place to record. Artists need help with videos, branding, PR, photos, radio placement, etc...

With this in mind we have set up On Deck as a place where you can come and advance your entire career, rather than just recording an album and having no idea what to do with it. While we still produce albums and videos and are more than happy to just do that, we also now work with artists to make sure everything they put out into the world is representing them as a pro. In your initial visit we can talk about what makes the most sense for you as an artist, and what steps we can take to get you to where you want to be in this business.
