Restoring Piece

Restoring Piece Hi, we're so glad that you found us! We are Brandon and Jeni Bowen, the creators of Restoring Piece. I like that a little better, anyway. It's inside of you, too.

We probably should have purchased a book on how to best write an "About Us" section, but it looks like we'll have to speak from the heart instead. Our story unfolds each day in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where we balance a retail studio, a private practice, and a very active online store, all while cuddling and snuggling...changing and feeding...our blessing babies, Groves and Hannon. Waiting for us at

home are Mercy (our Lab) and Millie (our kitty.) Brandon is my unwavering husband and my best friend. We are teammates, which is the only way we could ever do what we do. Brandon has the MBA, so he runs the numbers, balances, coordinates shipping, tracks inventory, maintains the website (and any other tech-y stuff), plus he happens to be a gifted crafter of wood and metal. Praise to the heavens, because tools and numbers really aren't my gig. I'm on the design side of things, the visionary, the writer, the painter, the instructor, and the therapist. We are a team, and I believe that is what the Lord intended for us all along. We are faith-walkers, risk-takers, and blinded by the hardcore belief that what God called us to do will flourish. More than five years ago, we left safe, cozy jobs with predictable salaries in order to pursue the Lord's path. What does that look like? Hand-in-hand, holding tight as we walk it out each day. God is faithful and when he told us that we would not be forsaken, we trusted. And the morning that he told me that Peter didn't walk on water with one foot in the boat, I believed. And here we are, standing on water, and keeping our eyes on Him. When you feel that fire - that purpose - that He has placed inside of you, it can't be ignored. You know what I'm talking about? Something good. Something meaningful. Something that you are to give to the world. Have you found it? When you do, even the mistakes and mundane feel like a masterpiece. It's powerful. It feeds our souls...and in our case, our bellies, too! There is such a correlation in what we love to do through design, and what He loves to do in and for His people. He bought and paid the price for our ugliness, also called sin. He takes what is old and makes it new. There is transformation through his Tender Loving Care. He recognizes our quality, even though we are hidden by dirt, stained and torn-up. We are hidden treasures in his eyes. He cleans us up and we are anointed with His oil. We are hand-picked by Him and made shiny and new. The more messed up we are, the better; the older, the better. There is no difference because His love is greater than any of our sins. It's God's Love. He is looking and searching for the old to make new. Those that have been thrown out and discarded, maybe even called 'trash', He's looking to RESTORE you; to wash you, to make you new. I hope you enjoy witnessing this incredible journey that we have begun through Restoring Piece. It is our pleasure to share what Jesus has done for us and what He can do for you. See you soon! Until Then,
Jeni

Don’t be deceived. This little antique corner mirror may look petite, but it’s about as heavy as my two toddlers combined. It was Brandon’s Grandmother’s, and it sure feels special to find the perfect place for it in our home. ♥️ What’s one of your favorite family pieces?

We’re looking for someone who can help us get our “ship” together! If you found that funny, and you’re looking for a part-time position with a flexible daytime schedule to help with shipping our products, let us know.
Here’s a quick checklist before introducing yourself:
-Do you have the ability to lift up to 25lbs?
-Do you have basic computer comprehension for shipping software?
-Are you organized?
-Can you multitask?
-Can you work well independently?
-Are you a non-smoker?
If you answered “yes” at least 6 times, then let us hear from you!

A quick unstaged photo that I shared with a friend the other day, and I thought maybe you’d like to see it, too. Thankfully, our table camouflages PBJ crumbs and goldfish carcasses pretty well. 🤓
So...
Last week, I walked aisle after aisle at our local antique market and gathered each one of these baskets. I wanted something dramatic to fill our dining room wall, and I love the idea of bringing pieces together in a space that would have never “met” otherwise. This also speaks of my hope for our country, and helps me focus on God’s intentions when He created us all.
Different colors, sizes, patterns. We are intended to be unique and made in His image. We come from all over, with our own histories and experiences, and yet, He seeks us when we have scattered. He calls for us because He has a special place and purpose for each one of us in His design. And when something happens to one of us? It affects everyone around.
Ohhh, yes. We may be different, but we are all woven the same, and undoubtedly, we are the most beautiful, and make the biggest impact, when we unite together.

This swept my feet out from underneath me today, y’all. It pierces my heart because I immediately hear my boys’ little voices. And in those last moments, when he called out for her, she heard his voice, too.

The power of paint. Brandon and I had a rare break together last week while the boys were at his parents’, so of course we partnered on a project! We aren’t quite mentally ready to make permanent changes on the exterior of the house, so in the meantime, we gave all the existing sconces a little lipstick in the perfect shade.
More to come on the interior, as we make our way through the sea of moving boxes!

05/03/2020

In our previous neighborhood, we lived across the street from the community park. It was beautiful and convenient for the boys, but our hearts LONGED for privacy and for more than a runway strip of grass between each house. I didn’t realize how much I missed the wind in the trees. It feeds me, and I am overflowing with gratitude for where the Lord has planted us. There is a story woven into these roots, and I’m going to share it with you soon.
Stay with me. ♥️

Hi,
If you have called in an order recently and then later in the day received multiple harassing phone calls and FaceTime attempts from this number, this is the assailant. You may have tried to hang up, but he is relentless in his pursuits and the question isn’t IF he will call back, but rather HOW MANY TIMES. Multiple, I tell you. Multiple.
I apologize. He is mostly harmless. No need for a restraining order. He will surrender the phone in exchange for jelly beans. In particular, the green ones.
Sincerely,
Management

The boys are napping, and this ol’ gal needs a little break. 📦 Thankful for the view. The kitchen is unpacked, and I’ve moved on to the laundry room. Evidently, I am a hoarder of cleaning supplies because there are two boxes dedicated to those alone.
In the meantime...
As all of you may know, due to COVID-19, our little studio will be closed until...(crickets...) However, we will continue to ship orders throughout the Nation Monday-Saturday. We are immensely grateful for all of your orders during this hiatus. Please know we are taking every safety precaution possible while packaging your goods. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about your quarantine painting quests. We will continue to be here for you...at least 6ft away. 😉
