Glad to be out in nature this weekend with Cody and the canines. Arya isn’t able to walk the distance she used to, but the sand on this path keeps her paws more protected. When we go for walks around our neighborhood, she has to ride in a stroller, which she does not like. 🥺

Cersei is very sensitive to the heat, so she also cannot walk very far when temperatures are above 74. She has to stop regularly for water breaks and cool down times in the shade. 🥵

Mac, Ren, and Maynard have no issues walking on any terrain. They can walk long distance, so sometimes we have to take separate field trips with the younger and older dogs. Even with the three youngest , we are mindful about temperatures and keeping them out of the sun when it is hot.🌤️

Last Saturday, Maynard stopped acting like himself. 🥺 He was still eating and drinking, but some of his food was coming back up. My first thought was he ate some plant matter, but as it progressed, I started questioning a blockage. I called the vet for an appointment. After some discussion, we decided that he should have an X-ray to rule out if there was any obstruction. 🩻 Thankfully, his X-ray just showed very irritated intestinal tissue, so no need for surgery: This pretty much confirmed that he likely induced some toxic plant matter. He was given some heavy duty nausea meds, a probiotic, and fluids. Of course, the subcutaneous fluids caused him to grow a temporary b**b. 😂 He’s back to normal now, and he got to go to the beach today with the others. Pics and video coming tomorrow.

The girls enjoyed a trip over to Grand Rapids to see our vet on Saturday. Ren needed a rabies shot and Cersei was getting her eyes rechecked from a recent ulcer. We met the grandchildren at 1 park for a nice walk and playground time with the kiddos, but then we visited another park that had lots of places to explore. The girls loved their time out, complete with a pup cup. 🐾

Mac and Maynard got to go to the dog beach. It was Maynard’s first beach experience. The boys loved exploring the sand and walking on the beach. Maynard was happy to play a game of chase with another dog. On the way home, we stopped at a local ice cream shop for an ice cream treat with a dog bone. 🦴🍨

It’s a new experience caring for 5 dogs…especially when all of them are Frenchies. We may not have diversity in breed selection, but each of these special babies are unique and march to the best of their own drum. They bring a mix of laughter and love to the household. I am grateful to have 5 healthy dogs. Here is an update with a brief history on each. 🐶

Arya (8) has not had a seizure since Easter, her alopecia is gone, and she is running and playing with the pack. She is living her best life again and we are thrilled. Arya had 2 litters and a singleton pup and then retired. 🩷

Cersei (6) has dry eye so she gets daily eyedrops. She had an eye ulcer a month ago which has healed. I have her get a cytopoint for seasonal allergies 3-4 times a year. Cersei had 2 litters, but then needed palate surgery so was spayed and retired. 💜

Mac (5) is in perfect health. He never needs to see the vet. He is a big sweet boy and our keeper puppy from Aryas first litter. I can’t imagine life without him. Mac was neutered at 11 months old. ❤️

Ren (4) is our keeper pup from Cersei’s first litter. She, like Mac, rarely needs the vet outside of an annual visit. She lives to play fetch. Ren had 3 litters before her recent retirement. During her spay surgery, the vet opened her nares slightly. Ren is super athletic.🩵

Maynard (8 months) is our final keeper puppy from Ren’s last litter. He is a very funny boy. The young energy has livened up the pack. Cody took him to vet yesterday because his face was swollen and he had hives. Best guess was a bee sting. Treatment was successful and he is good as new. 💙

Happy 5th Birthday!! 🎉 These adorable puppies are from Arya’s second litter called the Castaway Crew. All 6 of these babies are doing fantastic with their families. 💚💙♥️💛🩷🩵

Now you see it…now you don’t! 🤷‍♀️ I noticed what I thought was a cherry eye in Maynard today. An hour later, it is gone. I will be calling our veterinarian on Monday to get an appointment. Arya had a cherry eye so I know this is not an urgent care matter. 🍒 We go to the best vet clinic in West Michigan. I’m confident they will have the best advice on this matter. 🙌

Puppy + Doggy Update = GOOD NEWS! 🙌

We are thrilled to report that the fabulous five are doing well. Arya is still seizure free and has a perfect personality. Cersei is still the chaos coordinator, but she’s a hugger! Mac is Mr Chill! Ren remains fetch obsessed. Maynard is Captain Clown. I am grateful for their health. 🙏

I have a little work to do with Maynard. He is a bit naughty, but he is also only 7 months old. I take ownership of that because of how busy my life has been since he was born. I will be working with him more now that things are settling down a bit. If I can’t correct it, I will hire a trainer for him. 🐶
