Ilios Greek Taverna & Bar raises the bar within Norwalk's eclectic food scene. This new restaurant and gathering place takes guests on a virtual culinary tour of Greece, wrapped in stunning decor and genuine hospitality.

We met Executive Chef Eduardo Gonzalez and owners Harry and Sia, all of whom have gone to great lengths to create a restaurant that embraces the flavors, style, and warmth of the Greek culture.

The cocktails are creative, the cheese saganaki is on fire (literally!), the kataifi-wrapped shrimp with Dijon aioli is mouthwatering, and the salads hit all the high notes. We especially enjoyed the "Trilogoy of Three Lettuces" with pear, dried figs, and goat cheese. A true crowd-pleaser is the Ilios Board (for 2 or 4), a feast that includes pork souvlaki, gyro, beef, chicken, lamb chops, fries, pita bread, hummus dip, tzatziki, pickled red onions, Kalamata olives, and lemon wedges. Wow! All of the meats are juicy and flavorful, and the presentation is off the charts. There's also lots of fresh fish to choose from - but we were in a carnivorous mood.

Did someone say dessert? Our lovely server did! We indulged in a moist orange cake and chocolate-covered cream puffs. Both were served with silky smooth vanilla bean ice cream. All homemade and divine.

It's On!! The OnWashington Entrepreneur Contest, produced by AGW SONO Partners, returns for its fourth year in South Norwalk. The annual competition invites entrepreneurs to pitch innovative retail, food, fitness, creative, or lifestyle concepts for a chance to win a free one-month pop-up commercial space on Washington Street in the Historic District. Designed to activate vacant storefronts and support small business growth, the program gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to test ideas, build brand awareness, and engage the local community.
