It’s not so bad after all 😅

I wish I knew how much I would miss something as simple as walking beside him.

For years, it was just part of our everyday life.

The same paths. The same familiar places. The same excitement every time I reached for his leash.

Some days we’d walk for miles. Other days we’d barely go anywhere because he wanted to stop and investigate every little thing along the way.

And I never really thought much about it.

There was always another walk tomorrow.

Another morning. Another evening. Another chance to spend a little time together.

Until there wasn’t.

I look back at these videos now and realize how much of our life together was spent simply walking side by side.

No destination. No special occasion. Just the two of us enjoying each other’s company.

And I think that’s what I miss most about those days.
The comfort of knowing he’d be there tomorrow.

That something so ordinary could be such a constant source of happiness without me ever really stopping to appreciate just how lucky I was.

I knew someday we’d have to say goodbye.

I just never thought about how much I’d miss all the little things that came before it.

Three years later, I can still picture the way he walked beside me. The way he’d look back to make sure I was there. The excitement in his face when he realized we were going somewhere together.

And sometimes I wish I could step into one of those old videos, even for a moment.

Just to walk beside him again.

I never counted how many walks we took together.
I only wish there had been more. ❤️

Sometimes bringing your dogs along means taking the longer route, making more stops, and slowing down a little.

But watching Eva and Magnus enjoy our trip to Lake Michigan reminded me why it’s always worth it.

They don’t care where we’re going or how long it takes. They’re just happy to be there with us.

And someday, these little adventures will be the memories we treasure most.

So take the trip. Make the extra stop. Let them enjoy every moment.

Life moves fast enough already.

It’s okay to slow down for the ones who have so much less time than we do. ❤️

One of the hardest parts of getting another dog after losing one is learning to hold grief and love in your heart at the same time.

You want to love again, but part of you feels like you’re leaving the one you lost behind.

Then you catch your new dog sleeping in the same spot, making the same face, or doing something that reminds you of the one who’s gone.

And suddenly you’re smiling and crying at the same time.

I see it with Eva and Magnus all the time. Little moments that remind me of when Gunnar was still here.

And I’ve realized that loving another dog doesn’t mean letting go of the one you lost.

Your heart somehow makes room for both.

You learn to carry the grief of one love alongside the joy of another. ❤️
