The Paris select board is back up to five representatives. Rob Federico was elected to serve out an 18-month select board term and Scott Buffington to a seat that expires in June.

Scott Buffington is a former selectman who has been critical of Paris' budgets and finances. Rob Federico Sr. is Norway's former police chief.

If you missed candidates' night at the Paris Fire Station last night, we've queried all six running for two vacant select board series and have published their statements. The special election is Dec. 2, 4-8 p.m. at Town Office.

After two resignations, Paris' select board was left with the minimum needed for a quorum to conduct business. A special election to fill out the five-member panel will be held Tuesday at Paris Town Office, 4-8 p.m.

IN PARIS: There will be a special election Dec. 2 (4-8 p.m.) to fill two vacated select board seats, one to complete a six-month term and the other for 18 months.

Nomination papers are available at Town Office and must be signed and returned by Nov. 18.

The Select Board needs to fill the seats vacated by Matthew Brackett in September and Michael Bailey in October in order to continue management of town affairs and finances.

UPDATE: A Norway standoff came to an end after 12 hours when the suspect, who had barricaded himself at his 168 Main Street home, was arrested by Maine State Police.

Police were attempting to serve a warrant at a Main Street building Tuesday morning.

Maine State Police has sent its tactical team to 168 Main Street in Norway.

Last Wednesday Paris Police Cpl. Rob Federico and SRO Tim Holland were treated at MaineHealthlth Stephens Hospital for injuries sustained while arresting Heith Bernard of West Paris.

Police arrested Heith Bernard after officers were called to a disturbance at Dollar General in South Paris Oct. 15.
