TRIGGER WARNING for those with Arachnophodia!
Matt discovered this large Wolf Spider outside last night when he was taking our dog out. He had me come out to see it. It was taking cover from the rain under a protruding rock on the wall of our unfinished keyhole herb garden π₯Ή I love spiders and find them more fascinating than scary. They're misunderstood creatures that are always welcome here at The Lucky Clover Homestead ππ·πΈ
π Did you know that wolf spiders (and just spiders in general) are very beneficial for your yard and gardens? They are an excellent example of nature's pest control! You don't need chemical pesticides that harm the whole ecosystem, you just need more spiders π They feed on a wide variety of insects including aphids, caterpillars, cucumber beetles, flies, grasshoppers, leafhoppers, plant bugs, and thrips.
π Fun fact: Did you know that if a spider hasn't fully matured and still has molts left, they can regrow their legs? Wild! Unfortunately though, if the spider is fully grown, then it cannot regrow it's legs but can still survive and thrive π
