Well one of the guys in the neighbor hood found two kittens on the side of the road by a drain. He brought them to me. The kittens are in bad shape. Both had fly strike on them, thank God the maggots had not hatched yet. Both babies cold, wet, crying, infested with fleas and their eggs. I got as many maggot eggs off as I could before giving them a bath. When I gave them a bath they had blood coming off them. This is normal when infested with fleas and their eggs. The fleas suck the life out of them. Both babies are in critical condition. Both have lost a lot of blood thanks to the fleas. They are warming up now and drying now. They have been giving vitamins to help them bounce back from the fleas. They are serverly anemic. Also light cold or upper respiratory infection, that will be treated as well. Once babies warm up and dry I will try to feed them. They have nice little bellies on them so this situation does not make sense to me.
At this time we do not know if someone dumped them or what happened.
Big thanks to Itty Bitty for finding them.
If anyone would like to help id appreciate it. I've gotten a few kittens in in the last two weeks. I got another baby yesterday that the mama was not tending to. The baby had a nice glob of fly strike and some had even hatched out. Day prior to that I got three baby kittens, their mom got hit by a vehicle around 4 am and she didn't make it. Please if anyone can help I could use supplies and food.
I need more terramycin, flea combs, dawn, wet and dry cat food, another heating pad, I'm also going to need some more antibiotics for the cats. I'm tired it's been a day I'm sure I've left so.ething off.
