W***y Porter is one of those musicians that has skills that are not of this world. Perfectly rendered and hypnotic, drawing in and centering the audience, the harmonic pattern soon opens up like a clear stretch of road into an infectious groove with a thumping bass note felt deep in the belly as Porter sings, “Put down your weapons, let the music change your mind.” This guy is special. Porter's critical and cult following dates back to "Cool Water," an insidiously catchy track off his self-released Trees Have Soul album that was reprised on his 1995 major label debut, Dog Eared Dream. In the years since, he's continued to develop a fingerpicking style that's as full and rhythmic as a whole band, while penning wistfully poetic songs that are spiritually and emotionally moving. His music is an undistilled commentary on the human condition is his moment in time...whenever that moment may be. It is a show that will leave you breathless and fulfilled while challenging your soul with a different perspective on life. Don't miss it.

And Wednesday night will be a special night for all of us at the Fallout Shelter. Not JUST because of W***y Porter but because Maribeth Arena, our Maribeth Arena will be opening this show with a set of original music none of us have ever seen before. Maribeth is the President of our Board, she often greets you at the door, she's built a legendary Green Room and she runs the main camera up on the platform at The Fallout Shelter but prior to her career as a Social Worker she was an accomplished singer/songwriter and guitar player and over the past few years she's gone back to writing and playing music. It's her Fallout Shelter debut and we're extremely proud she will be opening this show.

Hypnotic Voodoo Rhythm & Blues & Rock & Roll Soul is how guitar ace Sal Baglio billed this show when he approached us last fall. He's put together six of the baddest cats in Boston music history...
Barrence Whitfield -

R&B howler Barrence Whitfield is a man who lives for the era when rhythm & blues and rock & roll walked hand in hand, and his revved-up music and over-the-top vocal style make him one of the wildest frontmen of his time. A frantic soul shouter in the spirit of , , and Don Covay, Whitfield and his band earned a potent cult following after the release of their self-titled debut album in 1984. 1985's Dig Yourself and 1987 Ow! Ow! Ow! expanded on its energy. Whitfield sat out most of the 2000s, but 2012's Dig Thy Savage Soul proved he still had the goods, and 2018's Soul Flowers of Titan and 2023's Glory showed his command of party-starting soul was still potent.

Sal Baglio -

As a singer, guitarist and composer, Sal Baglio has touched all the bases that have rounded out a successful musical career. But with his recent work as a solo artist, Baglio embarks upon a new path that looks backward in the most delightful way. Baglio’s music and solo performances dial up a past that is easily imagined in a less-distracted age where music bursts boldly out of a car’s AM radio on a summer drive or floats in the imagination of a young solitary artist learning to strum his first guitar.

New paths or old, Baglio projects a welcome sense of place, family and friends, a “pocket full of memories” where streets named London and Liverpool strike more than mere fancy allusions to the Beatles, the Kinks and others. They set fire in the mind of a young artist that will forever remain in his persona.

Anthony Geraci -

He's simply one of the baddest piano/organ players on the planet today...PERIOD!

Anthony Geraci is a two time Blues Music Award (BMA) Winner from The Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN for instrumentalist-Piano. He has 17 personal BMA Nominations as well as a Grammy Nomination for Super Harps I.

Anthony has toured worldwide for over 40 years with Ronnie Earl, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, and his own band The Boston Blues All-Stars which were nominated 3 times for Band of the Year by the Blues Foundation. He has recorded with traditional blues artists such as Odetta, Big Walter Horton, John Brim, Carey Bell…and contemporary blues artists Kenny Neal, Debbie Davies, John Primer, Welch/Ledbetter, Charlie Musselwhite, Sugaray Rayford, Zora Young and many more. He has also toured and backed up Otis Rush, J.B. Hutto, Muddy Waters, B.B King, Billy Boy Arnold to name just a few.

Henley Douglas Jr. -

A world renowned sax player, Henley Douglas Jr. has been performing professionally for over thirty years. He’s formed and led countless bands. His music appears on over a dozen albums including a CD of original music as a soloist. He’s shared the stage with everyone from the Neville Brothers to the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Laverne Baker. His music is featured on the upcoming reggae documentary “Reggae in the Ruff.” He co-founded a nonprofit organization supporting music education programs in schools and youth centers. Just when we think he’s done it all, Henley turns another corner and finds a new way to share his passion for music. His blistering horn attack will bring this stage to an overdrive!!

Our Story

The Fallout Shelter is not your ordinary venue. We are a professional video recording studio that is set up like a 1940’s nightclub with room for an 80 person audience. It’s a pretty unique experience that you are unlikely to forget. As one of our recent performers described us: “a wonderful intimate setting, amazing sound, and all the vibes one could want in a live music experience.”

We’re located in back of the White Dog Vintage Store in the WinSmith Mills at the Norwood Commerce Center. The address is 61 Endicott St, Norwood Ma 02062. There’s plenty of free parking.

Our doors open at 6pm, the music/filming starts promptly at 7pm and that’s followed by an interview of the band. Things generally wrap up between 9 & 9:30. The ticket price includes a light buffet and a souvenir concert poster. There’s also a wine & beer bar available for your drinking pleasure.
