One of the BEST Route 66 side quests๐๐ผ
This year Route 66 turns 100 years old and America also turns 250โฆ thereโs no better time to celebrate with the freedom of the open road and take ICONIC roadtrip ๐๐บ๐ธ๐ซถ๐ผ
Flagstaff, Arizona is directly on your route as Route 66 passes through downtown so itโs a great place to stay for a bit butโฆ
You absolutely NEED to make time to head down to Sedona to at least do a quick hike ๐๏ธ
Sedona is only about 30 miles south of Flagstaff and the drive to get there is incredibly scenic! Youโll be taking the famous Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive (State Route 89A) ๐
Sedona can definitely get a little busy and thatโs why we recommend staying up in Flagstaff instead at a place like . Itโs the perfect option because youโll instantly feel at home with their suite style rooms that come with a full kitchen and plenty of space to stretch out ๐
To explore more of Sedona we recommend using to book yourself a walking tour with ๐ถ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ถ๐ปโโ๏ธ
Hereโs the top 5 Sedona hikesโฆ
1) Devilโs Bridge ๐ฅพ
Thereโs a few trails that will get you here. The Mescal trail is your best bet making it about a 4 mile hike in total with a little over 500ft of elevation gain
2) The Birthing Cave ๐ฅพ
This one will definitely be not as bust as most other Sedona hikes. Parking is on the side of the road. Itโs about 2 miles and flat until the hike up into the cave
3) Seven Sacred Pools ๐ฅพ
This one is a little over 3 miles and relatively flat. You do drive through a neighborhood to get to the trailhead
4) Cathedral Rock ๐ฅพ
This one is definitely the toughest as itโs a steep climb! The views from up top make it totally worth it! Itโs only a little over 1 mile and about 700ft of elevation
5) The Subway Cave ๐ฅพ
Itโs found on the Boynton Canyon Trail. The entire trail is almost 7 miles but you can choose to go to the Subway Cave and back making it much shorter
